Responsibilities
Schedules, directs and manages the duty activities of a security shift engaged in the operations of a level two facility.
Supervises, Inspects and ensures proper security and control measures are enforced.
Prepares, submits and monitors reports required by policy.
Directs security resources for optimum security and safety.
Ensure that institutional buildings and state property are properly secured.
Trains, develops, instructs, evaluates and counsels subordinates to ensure performance is in accordance with state laws and SCDC policy.
Ensures the proper control, issue and use of weapons, keys, security devices and agency equipment.
Interviews and counsels inmates as necessary.
Must successfully complete eight (8) weeks of SCDC Basic Training upon hire.

Minimum Requirements State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and relevant supervisory experience. A bachelor’s degree in a related field may substitute for the required supervisory experience.
SCDC Minimum Requirements:
A high school diploma and six (6) years of experience in correctional, security, military, or police work to include two (2) years of supervisory experience.
A degree in criminal justice or a related degree may substitute for supervisory experience year for year (associate and above = 2 year).
Must be certified by the SCDC Training Academy and successfully complete the basic supervisory course within six (6) months of entry into the position.
