
TRIO Design is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented
Purchasing Agent
to support the successful execution of our design projects. This role is critical to ensuring that all furniture, materials, and supplies are ordered accurately, shipped on schedule, and received in excellent condition. The Purchasing Agent works behind the scenes to keep projects moving smoothly by coordinating closely with Designers, vendors, freight partners, and receiving teams.
In this role, you will manage the full purchasing process from request through delivery, converting design requests into purchase orders, placing vendor orders within required timelines, and actively expediting shipments to meet project deadlines. You’ll maintain strong vendor relationships, troubleshoot order discrepancies, coordinate substitutions when needed, and proactively communicate any delivery risks to internal teams. Attention to detail is key, as you’ll verify acknowledgements, reconcile discrepancies, and ensure accurate records across systems.
The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, collaborative environment and enjoys balancing multiple projects at once. You’ll play a key role in cross-functional coordination by attending project meetings, supporting purchasing process improvements, and contributing to a team-focused culture where accuracy, accountability, and communication are essential to success.
High school diploma/GED required (Associate Degree or higher preferred)
3+ years’ experience in purchasing role or like experience
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and QuickBooks
Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to communicate among a wide variety of audiences
Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
Proven history of effective project management
Ability to move and lift at least 50-75 lbs. on project sites if needed
Must be comfortable working in groups and participating in cross-functional teams towards a common goal
