
LaAmistad is seeking a dynamic, creative, and mission-driven Communications Manager to lead and execute the organization’s marketing and communications strategy. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in shaping how LaAmistad is perceived by key audiences, strengthening brand awareness, and amplifying our impact through compelling storytelling.
This role oversees all stages of the communications process—from concept development and message creation to execution and performance evaluation. The Communications Manager is ideal for individuals with a passion for nonprofit marketing and communications who thrive in a collaborative environment and are motivated by meaningful, community-centered work. This position is responsible for managing all social media and communications content, as well as leading the overall marketing strategy for the organization.

Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute an annual, cross-channel marketing and communications plan.
Write, design, and manage all communication materials, including monthly newsletters, annual reports, and marketing collateral.
Use social media and newsletters to tell LaAmistad’s story in creative, inspiring, and authentic ways that resonate with diverse audiences.
Track, analyze, and report on the effectiveness of marketing and social media campaigns.
Manage and update website content to ensure timely, relevant, and engaging information.
Develop and maintain relationships with media partners, influencers, and community leaders.
Support organizational events and initiatives through promotional strategies and visual storytelling.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong copywriting, editing, and content creation skills.
Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to evaluate organizational needs and develop effective communication processes.
Strong organizational and administrative skills with excellent follow-through.
Passion for community engagement and collaborative teamwork.
Experience using Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, WordPress, MailChimp, and social media platforms including Instagram, X (Twitter), and Facebook.
Photography and videography skills for visual storytelling.
Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are strongly encouraged to apply.
Requirements
Ability to sit, stand, or walk for moderate periods and occasionally lift up to 30 pounds.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel to program sites and events.
