Job Summary The College of Forestry, Wildlife and Environment Office of Communications and Marketing is seeking a student to assist with journalism, social media, web content management, photography, video production, and other content as needed. The ideal candidate will be a journalism, public relations, marketing, or mass communications major/minor student who has a specialized interest in translating the methods, impacts, and wider applications of scientific research for a wide variety of public audiences to interest, engage, and garner support in the college’s mission areas of research, teaching, and outreach, as well as its development initiatives.

Essential Functions

Assist staff with social media, website updates, and content development.

Assist staff with event promotions, videography, and photography.

Conduct, document, and catalog interviews with faculty, staff, students, and alumni.

Develop content to promote the activities of faculty, alumni, students, and student organizations within print, digital, and social media.

Assist faculty and staff with the content development, layout, and editing of digital and print materials, including brochures, advertisements, flyers, signage, and other collateral materials.

Assist with the drafting and distribution of press releases and other media announcements as needed.

Assist the staff to update and maintain digital advertising within the college.

Conduct market research studies and other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Currently enrolled student at Auburn University.

Preferred Qualifications

Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, or Mass Communications major/minor student.

Specialized interest in translating the methods, impacts, and wider applications of scientific research for a wide variety of public audiences to interest, engage, and garner support in the college’s research, academic, development, and outreach programs.

Freshman or sophomore‑year candidate.

Experience with Microsoft and Adobe products, as well as WordPress.

Expectations

Ability to manage multiple projects and responsibilities independently and on deadline is required.

Demonstrate maturity, professionalism, self‑discipline, and attention to detail in their work and interactions.

Excellent writing skills, working knowledge of Associated Press and Chicago writing styles.

Compensation & Hours Pay Rate: $12.00/hour Work Hours: 20 hours per week City: Auburn State: Alabama
