
Piping Designer (Developing Level)

The Opportunity We’re seeking a
Developing-Level Piping Designer
to support industrial and commercial facility projects for a global engineering organization. This role is ideal for an early-career piping designer who wants to continue building technical depth while working alongside experienced engineers and senior designers.
You’ll contribute to piping layouts, models, and drawings under guidance, gaining exposure to design standards, multi-discipline coordination, and global workshare execution.
What You’ll Do
Develop basic piping layouts and perform pipe routing tasks using
AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, or CADWorx
under direction from senior staff
Apply fundamental piping design principles, including pipe sizing, routing logic, and coordination with other disciplines
Assist with equipment layout and incorporate vendor information into design models
Support the creation of drawings, details, and deliverables in accordance with project and company standards
Review and integrate markups, comments, and redlines from senior designers and engineers
Participate in workshare coordination by communicating model status and following clear task instructions
Maintain quality, accuracy, and organization across assigned design tasks
Here’s What You’ll Need
Associate’s degree in Design Technology or a related field (or 2+ years of equivalent practical experience)
2–4 years
of piping design experience in industrial, commercial, or manufacturing environments
Working knowledge of
AutoCAD Plant 3D, Revit, or CADWorx
Understanding of piping fundamentals, equipment arrangement, and general design practices
Ability to read and apply basic piping specifications with guidance
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills for drawings and models
Effective communication skills and ability to work in a multi-discipline team environment
Ideally, You Will Have
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering Technology or similar curriculum
Experience supporting projects in
pharmaceutical, biotech, chemical, semiconductor, or advanced manufacturing
facilities
Familiarity with pipe stress concepts and how they influence layout decisions
Exposure to
QA/QC workflows , model cleanup, or specification-driven design
Hands-on experience with Revit or CADWorx beyond foundational use (e.g., families/parts, spec-driven design, advanced modeling tools)
Prior involvement in a
global workshare environment
Work Model This is a
hybrid role , requiring onsite presence
two days per week
at an approved office location. Preferred locations are listed above; alternate locations may be considered based on experience and alignment with project needs.
