Position Description The Designer on the Facilities Design team manages facility design projects that support the expansion, alteration, and reconfiguration of Applied Medical facilities. This role translates stakeholder and operational needs into compliant facilities design criteria, develops complete drawing packages, and delivers solutions that address facility design requests. The Designer contributes to space planning, construction coordination, and asset management while partnering closely with Engineering, Facilities, Operations, and Construction teams at Applied Medical.
Key Responsibilities
Convert stakeholder requirements into comprehensive facilities design criteria aligned with standard operating procedures and corporate design standards.
Utilize AutoCAD to prepare detailed construction drawings and translate field notes into accurate record and as-built drawings.
Conduct on-site measurements and technical verifications of rooms and sites to establish and maintain accurate as-built documentation.
Analyze red‑line revisions in collaboration with Operations and Construction teams and update archived drawings in accordance with company policy.
Fulfill facility design requests by synthesizing cross‑functional data and collaborating with Engineering and Facilities teams to produce drawing packages for internal and permitted projects.
Facilitate and lead facilities design team meetings to align objectives, resolve design challenges, and streamline workflows.
Review permitted construction documents and perform technical analyses to ensure compliance with internal protocols, building codes, and regulatory standards.
Monitor project milestones and provide regular progress updates to leadership and key stakeholders.
Coordinate with Facilities teams to support interior and exterior building assets, including space planning, landscaping, and maintenance design.

Position Requirements This Position Requires the Following Skills and Attributes
Earn an associate degree or demonstrate equivalent experience in engineering, architecture, interior design, or drafting.
Bring three years of design experience related to building facilities, construction, or architectural design.
Demonstrate experience managing design projects and coordinating multiple stakeholders.
Apply advanced proficiency using AutoCAD for two‑dimensional drafting.
Use Microsoft Office tools including Outlook, Word, and Excel effectively.
Deliver exceptional customer service by identifying client needs through solution‑focused inquiry.
Analyze building codes and regulations to ensure compliance within large‑scale space planning and facility design efforts.
Read and interpret complex construction documents with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Apply a foundational understanding of industrial processes and material flow.
Demonstrate working knowledge of industrial, manufacturing, laboratory, clean‑room, warehouse, and office building improvements.
Apply strong knowledge of construction detailing and standard drawing conventions.
Organize work effectively, prioritize tasks, and manage time to meet project deadlines.
Use manual and digital measuring tools to validate site dimensions and ensure accurate translation from design to implementation.
Preferred The Following Skills and Attributes Are Preferred
Demonstrate proficiency using Adobe Photoshop for design visualization.
Apply working knowledge of Vault software.
Demonstrate intermediate to advanced proficiency using Autodesk Revit for three‑dimensional modeling and rendering.
Bring experience preparing architectural and engineering submittal packages for city or municipal approval.
Support Drafter I and Drafter II activities and assist team leaders and managers during design coordination meetings.
