Business Development Sales Manager — Food Imports
(National Accounts | Distributors | Brokers)
Location: Paramus, New Jersey (Hybrid | Frequent Travel Required)
Company: Euro-American Brands, LLC (EAB)
WHO WE ARE We build brands. For more than 30 years, Euro-American Brands (EAB) has been the premier importer of European confections and specialty foods in the United States. Our portfolio includes 10 of the world's finest confectionery producers and 8 purveyors of premium specialty foods — brand names that define quality, tradition, and taste.
We partner with European suppliers looking to break into the U.S. market and bring their brands to the American consumer. We provide a full suite of services to our suppliers, including importing, logistics, warehousing, sales, marketing, administrative, and brand management. Our sales managers call on all classes of trade; from grocery stores and specialty shops to warehouse clubs and mass merchandisers.
We are a mid-sized business with about 30 employees – half of which work out of our Paramus, New Jersey headquarters. The other members of our team are located across the country near the key accounts in their regions.
We strive to offer a collaborative, professional environment where everyone feels they are working toward a common goal. We value people who look for creative solutions to problems and who encourage their coworkers to think differently.
THE ROLE We're looking for a Business Development Sales Manager to grow our national retail accounts and distributor coverage across all channels of trade, from grocery and specialty to mass and alternative, and everything in between.
This job requires an experienced sales professional who is ready to expand their area of responsibility by translating objectives into tangible results.
This is a hybrid role based out of our Paramus, New Jersey office, offering a mix of office collaboration, local market engagement, and national travel. You'll spend stretches working closely with our brand managers at our company headquarters to align sales strategies and priorities, while also visiting stores and distributors within the NY/NJ area as part of the initial training and to strengthen distribution at a grassroots level. In addition, you'll travel across the country to attend customer meetings at their headquarters.
The key objective is to sell our brands to existing and new customers by analyzing the market and customer needs, assessing gaps in our distribution and finding solutions to enhance channel coverage and thus maximizing portfolio reach across all EAB brands – large or small.
This position requires the ability to think big while staying grounded in the details.
It calls for resilience, perseverance and a roll‑up-your-sleeves attitude paired with a good work ethic, integrity and ability to work with both products and people.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
Become an expert on our portfolio of 18 brands
Manage and grow sales across national and regional retail accounts and distributors
Build meaningful, long‑term partnerships with brokers and buyers that drive mutual success for our company, our brands, and our retail partners
Travel as needed (approx. 6 - 10 days a month) for national customer meetings and trade shows to drive visibility and growth
Research new classes of trade to sell our portfolio, thinking outside of the box to grow the business beyond traditional avenues
Collaborate closely with internal brand managers to propose and execute creative sales plans for your accounts' category reviews
Maintain a high level of organization and precision in presentations, reporting and follow‑ups
Manage accounts receivables and deductions for your assigned customers in conjunction with our accounting team
WHO YOU ARE
5+ years of experience in sales for Consumer‑Packaged Goods (CPG), food industry experience strongly preferred
Direct experience selling to retailers and distributors alike with a proven track record of driving growth at existing and new accounts
Self‑starter who takes ownership and exhibits a balance of strategy and hustle
Proactive, detail‑oriented and demonstrates excellent follow‑through
Financially savvy, with a clear understanding of how costs impact margins — ensuring sales growth is profitable, not just volume‑driven
Strong leadership and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence cross‑functional teams and customers alike
Customer‑focused — able to build, maintain, and grow strong relationships
Excellent communicator — verbal, written, and interpersonal – with great listening skills and high emotional intelligence
Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced, entrepreneurial environment
Critical thinker who isn’t afraid to challenge the status quo and offer a unique perspective
Proficient in Microsoft Office and familiar with reporting tools like IRI or Nielsen
WHY EAB At EAB, hierarchy and titles matter less than passion, collaboration, and initiative. We are a team that moves forward together — where great ideas can come from anywhere. As our Business Development Sales Manager, you'll work directly with our brand managers and the VP of Sales to shape business plans, drive new opportunities, and make an impact across the company.
We're looking for someone who wants more than a job — someone who finds satisfaction in building, improving, and achieving results. This role is best suited for a candidate who has a strong sense of ownership and is passionate about delivering impactful results. We require someone who will actively contribute to the team's success, rather than simply execute tasks. The rhythm here isn't a strict 9-to-5 — some weeks are intense, others more flexible — but if you love to create momentum, solve challenges, and see your impact, you'll find real purpose here.
Join a company that values creativity, accountability, and genuine enthusiasm for great food. You'll have the autonomy to own your territory, the backing of world‑class brands, and the opportunity to help redefine how European specialty foods grow in the U.S. market.
If you enjoy critical thinking with practical field execution, and you're not afraid to push boundaries in a traditional industry, you'll thrive here.
