Position Responsibilities
Provide a great experience by engaging with guests using your skills and training.
Assist guests with selection and recommendation of merchandise and services that meet their needs.
Demonstrate a high level of interest in the welfare, health, and proper handling of all animals.
Process register transactions and create a great experience for each guest.
Generate future business through a deep understanding of the guests and their pets and a connection to our digital platforms.
Perform related duties in support of the Pet Care Center’s assigned sales goals.
Ensure merchandise is stocked, priced, and displayed to create a great presentation for our guests.
Complete and apply training programs to maintain a high level of expertise in the role.
Adhere to established operational guidelines, policies, and procedures.
Promote a positive culture of teamwork, inclusion, and collaboration.
Complete other duties and special projects as assigned.
Evaluate guest inquiries and refer to the Leader on Duty as needed.
Other Essential Duties
Utilize selling behaviors to provide an amazing guest experience and identify and solve for their needs today and in the future.
Contribute to a safe environment by following safety protocols and maintaining safety for partners, guests, and pets.
Be part of a collaborative culture that focuses on solving for pet health and wellness needs.
Engage in your career: develop skills and knowledge through developmental programs to support continued growth.
Basic Qualifications Minimum of one year of sales experience and a high level of knowledge of pet nutrition. Must have a professional appearance, be genuinely interested in animals and their care, and possess strong interpersonal and verbal communication skills.
Certification Completion and maintenance of the appropriate specialist level of the Petco Certification program is required.
Preferred Qualifications Prior pet nutrition experience and experience working with or caring for pets.
Supervisory Responsibility None
Work Environment The role is primarily indoors with occasional merchandise receiving and stock balancing. Duties include bending, kneeling, moving merchandise, and standing for long periods. Must be able to lift 50 lbs and pull 2000 lbs using material handling equipment. Must meet safety protocols. Availability for evenings, weekends, some overnight and holiday shifts is required.
