Inside / Outside Machinist Journeyman
Propulsion Controls Engineering has a job opening for an Inside / Outside Machinist Journeyman, with a minimum of five years of marine and/or shipyard experience preferred, supporting our Bremerton & Everett, Washington locations. Job Summary / Inside / Outside Machinist Journeyman: The Inside / Outside Machinist Journeyman fabricates parts using basic machine shop machinery: horizontal lathes, milling machines, drill/hydraulic presses. Performs machine set-ups without supervision. Able to read complex blueprints, drawings and sketches to ensure proper dimensions and tolerances. Proficient in use of precision measuring equipment and instruments. Effectively assist in the disassembly, match marking and cleaning, inspection and reassembly of equipment / components such as: pumps, motors and various valves, etc. Possesses the ability to conduct pump/motor alignments. Perform major and specialized mechanical overhaul and repair work on diesel marine engines and related marine equipment and systems using work specifications and technical manuals. Duties and Responsibilities: Maintain detailed records of maintenance and repair work performed. Maintain open communication with the management team regarding job status, updates, and changes. Communicate effectively with customers regarding repair needs and solutions. Provide guidance and training to junior mechanics and apprentices. Order and manage inventory of parts needed for repairs. Performs other related tasks as assigned, some of which may become essential to the position. Position Requirements and Experience / Inside / Outside Machinist: Must be 18 years of age or older to apply. Minimum five years of marine and/or shipyard experience preferred.
