Body Shop Technician

Assists Painter in buffing body shop repaired automotive vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership quality specifications and time standards. Essential Duties

Essential duties include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Buffs vehicles after painting. Operates and uses all body shop equipment properly and safely. Removes rust from metal, and grease and dirt from work surface. Cleaning vehicle interiors and exteriors in compliance with all company standards and client requests. Operating buffers, steamers, hoses, vacuums, and other equipment to meet service expectations. Using cleaning, protective, and restorative agents to maintain and enhance the appearance of vehicles. Performing inspections and keeping complete, accurate records of the vehicle's condition. Masks and protects parts that are not to be painted or coated. Maintains tools and keeps equipment clean and in a proper state of repair. Keeps work area clean. Maintains and wears all required safety and health personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer. Complies with all laws and regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials. Reports any deviations to management. Understands, keeps abreast of, and complies with federal, state, and local regulations that affect body shop operations, such as hazardous waste disposal, OSHA Right-to-Know, etc. Qualifications

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations. Valid Driver's License Physical Demands
