Position Purpose Under the general direction of the Sr. Associate AD for Recreation, manage operations and personnel of fitness programs and amenities memberships offered by Athletics Department and Recreation.

Description Manage operations of Lewinstein Athletic Center Gym Membership Programs, Zimmerman Fitness Center, and Boss Tennis Center. Collaborate with Director of Recreation and Wellness Education Operations to manage fitness class and personal training programs. Supervise one full‑time employee and more than 50 part‑time staff.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree plus 3‑5 years’ experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

3 years of experience in a related field.

Nationally Accredited Certification in personal training and/or fitness classes (ACE, NASM, NSCA, other) or ability to obtain within one year of hire.

First Aid, CPR, AED certification or ability to obtain within 3 months of hire.

Ability to manage logistical and administrative details of multiple tasks or projects.

Ability to plan work, set priorities, and respond to pressures, deadlines, and changes in schedules and priorities.

Proficiency in business and management computer applications.

Excellent verbal and written communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to work effectively, independently, and as a member of a team.

Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.

Preferred Qualifications

Fitness Facility Management Experience.

Previous leadership of a fitness industry program or facility.

Previous experience in the higher education fitness and recreation space.

Amenities Membership Programs & Fitness Center Management (50%)

Administer all aspects of gym membership program including marketing, sales, membership services and satisfaction.

On‑site administrator for execution of gym membership services, including membership card issuance and online platform access coding.

Hire, train, and manage part‑time staff for both membership services front desk and fitness center.

Coordinate closely with facilities staff on operations, including building hours, pool hours, maintenance, and cleanliness.

Forecast, plan, and manage the annual membership program budget and fitness staff costs.

Manage fitness center equipment care, service, and maintenance and the maintenance service contract.

Maintain First Aid/CPR/AED certification and manage safety and risk management.

Indoor Tennis Center Operations & Membership Program (20%)

Supervise full‑time manager of indoor tennis center.

Provide oversight and guidance on indoor tennis center operations, memberships, and programming.

Support marketing, sales, membership services, including membership card issuance and online platform access coding.

Provide guidance and programming services to the indoor tennis center manager.

Collaborate on budgeting for the indoor tennis center, including personnel cost, equipment, facility maintenance, and replacement.

Fitness Classes and Personal Training Program Management (20%)

Manage fitness classes and personal training programs.

Determine class offerings and schedules in collaboration with Director of Recreation and Wellness Education Operations.

Forecast, plan, and manage annual budget for classes and personal training programs.

Hire, train, and manage part‑time staff for fitness classes and personal training programs.

Plan and execute marketing and sales of programs in collaboration with the Director.

Administration (10%)

Enter, maintain, and analyze usage, membership, and sales data for strategic decision making.

Assist in developing recreation unit operations and publications, handbooks, and manuals.

Assist in content creation for external communications and marketing, including promotional materials and announcements across social media and email campaigns.

Additional Responsibilities

Demonstrate professionalism and collegiality in interactions and communications within an inclusive environment.

Perform other duties as assigned.
