Program Director II, CSTEP 80% Part-Time (Grant Funded)

The CSTEP Program Directorplays a critical role in advancing the mission of the Collegiate Science and Technology Entry Program, which supports students from underrepresented groups pursuing careers in STEM and health-related fields. This position focuses on program development, student engagement, and compliance with NYSED grant requirements, while supervising staff and collaborating with faculty and campus offices.

*This is atemporary, grant-funded position that may be renewed annually, contingent upon availability of grant funding and performance reviews. This position is eligible for paid time off and benefits.

Examples of Duties & Responsibilities Programming & Student Support (Primary Focus)

Coordinate internship and research opportunities for CSTEP students.

Provide personalized academic and career advisement.

Assist students in exploring advanced programs and facilitate placement into 2+2 or 2+3 transfer pathways and national research labs.

Develop and implement professional development workshops (e.g., time management, study skills, resume building).

Plan and execute career seminars, networking events, and conferences to connect students with industry professionals.

Arrange tutoring support through faculty and peer tutors.

Oversee stipend distribution and ensure students have access to on-campus resources such as Chromebooks and scientific study tools.

Provide references and recommendations for active participants.

Administrative & Compliance Duties

Supervise office assistants, tutors, and the Technical Assistant.

Collaborate with Computing and Information Technology to maintain program compliance and update the CSTEP website and online application.

Ensure accurate data collection and reporting for NYSED midterm and final reports, and work closely with Grants Accounting for compliance.

Recruit and retain CSTEP students through outreach and engagement activities.

Attend regional STEP & CSTEP meetings and represent the program at campus events.

Adheres to the College Code of Conduct.

Contributes to, supports, and maintains an equitable, inclusive, and collaborative College environment.

Maintains technological competencies utilized by the College.

Commits to the philosophy of a comprehensive community college.

Commits to professional growth.which includes seeking ongoing training in diversity, equity, inclusion to better serve students.

Requirements Required Qualifications

Master's degree in Counseling, Education, STEM, or a related field from a regionally accredited institution.

Minimum of three years' experience in higher education, preferably in student advisement and retention.

Strong organizational and leadership skills with experience supervising staff.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with data management systems.

Commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and student success.

Ability to work occasional evenings and weekends; valid NYS driver's license required.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience with grant compliance and reporting.

Knowledge of STEM and health-related academic pathways.

Strong communication and event coordination skills.

Bilingual and able to read, write, and speak Spanish, or other languages, proficiently

Additional Information Salary:

Salary is determined based on experience, internal equity, and college budget. This position has a range of $52,000to $63,209and is based on thementioned factors.
