Position Description Advertised Job Summary Under minimal supervision performs human resources and business activities in the School of the Earth, Ocean & Environment (SEOE) and the Baruch Institute to include:
Coordinating all personnel activities for faculty, TFAC, staff, emeritus faculty, instructors, post‑docs and undergraduates;
Serving as liaison to International Student and Scholar Support (ISSS) to process all visa requests, solve problems for international faculty and staff, and assist with paperwork related to international visitors.
Job Related Minimum Required Education and Experience
Bachelor's degree in a related field and 1+ years of job‑related experience (or equivalent combination of certification, training, education, and/or experience).

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of laws, regulations and policies relevant to the University of South Carolina and College of Arts and Sciences.
Ability to effectively plan and organize work activities and prioritize task completion according to schedules and goals.

Ability to exercise judgement and discretion in interpreting and applying policies and procedures.

Job Duties
Managing time‑keeping and leave processes
in the HCM TL/ABS system for faculty, staff, and students (10% of time).
International Student and Scholar Support liaison
– process visa requests, solve problems for international faculty and staff within the department, and assist with paperwork (10%).
Personnel activities coordination
– after consulting with school/business managers to verify budget aspects, coordinate all personnel activities for the School of the Earth, Ocean & Environment and the Baruch Institute (35%).
Undergraduate hire/rehire/change actions
– prepare and process actions for undergraduate work‑study and non‑work‑study student assistants; back‑up for graduate students (15%).
Affiliate paperwork processing
– for the School of the Earth, Ocean & Environment and the Baruch Institute (5%).
Front‑office back‑up support
– assist with greeting visitors, processing mail/deliveries and key check‑out and collection (10%).
HR guidance
– provide assistance and guidance to SEOE and Baruch faculty, staff and students on HR activities to ensure compliance with federal, state, and University policies and procedures (10%).
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned (5%).
