Title: Senior Associate - Technical Service
Duration: 11+ MONTHS
Responsibilities Main job responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Independently conducting organic reactions (pilot and lab scales), including reaction system assembly, monitoring, product work‑up/analysis/characterization, and experimental documentation using an electronic laboratory notebook system.
Independently making parts from resins, including mixing, milling, pressing and sintering, monitoring, product work‑up/analysis/characterization, and experimental documentation using an electronic laboratory notebook system.
Analyze results, recognize erroneous or unexpected outcomes, and make suggestions for a path forward.
Characterize material structure and performance, using various spectroscopic techniques, including, NMR, IR.
Become familiar with and learn polymer characterization instrumentation such as DSC, TGA, DMA, TMA, Impact and Tensile Testing.
Properly document and report all experimental data. Present findings and results at team meetings.
Ability to use windows‑based computer systems.
Troubleshoot and calibrate instruments. Author and prepare instrument manuals and SOPs.
Participate and follow all safety policies and best practices. Support process safety management (PSM) by maintaining pilot and laboratory safety documentation.
Order and purchase supplies when needed. Maintain chemical, resin and experimental sample inventory.
Coordinate outside laboratory testing, including shipping samples following proper DOT rules and regulations.
Required transferring flammables and powders (drum size) and limited lifting of lab equipment (Reactor, glassware, etc.).
Qualifications
Prior work experience with pilot‑scale polymerization and handling drum quantity flammable is highly preferred.
BS in Chemical Engineering, Materials, Chemistry or have equivalent experience.
Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
Knowledge or working experience with polymer characterization instrumentation is preferred.
Ability to learn a wide variety of testing methods and instruments.
Experience with mechanical testing equipment is preferred.
Excellent communication skills with the ability to effectively prioritize, organize, and plan responsibilities.
Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills.
