Hartford Funds is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Public Relations Coordinator to support our growing PR function. This role is ideal for a self-starter early in their communications career who is eager to learn, take ownership quickly, and contribute to meaningful media relations efforts that elevate Hartford Funds’ visibility and reputation. Working closely with the Head of Public Relations, you will assist with proactive media outreach, research and strategy development, writing and content planning, reporting, and day-to-day operational support.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor market trends, news cycles, peer activity, and new media opportunities to help shape PR strategy
Support proactive media relations efforts, including identifying relevant reporters/outlets, maintaining media lists, and drafting and distributing media pitches
Maintain media relationships, manage logistics, and help prepare subject matter experts for interviews
Draft, edit, and/or proofread PR materials such as press releases, briefing documents, key messages, talking points, and other external communications
Monitor for media coverage and support amplification across internal and external channels
Manage monthly reporting and maintain tracking systems to ensure operational efficiency
Assist with planning and execution of PR campaigns and company announcements
Contribute to issues management as needed, including research, monitoring, and material development
Support other brand-building and reputation-enhancing initiatives through research, project management, and material development as needed
Perform administrative tasks related to PR/marketing operations and team coordination
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, or a related field
1-2 years of relevant experience in public relations, communications, media, marketing, or a related field; financial services industry experience a plus
Familiarity with media relations concepts and an interest in pitching and reporter engagement
Interest in financial markets, investing, personal finance, and/or related topics a plus
Proficiency in Microsoft Office

Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally
Attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, quality, and adherence to compliance standards
Media savvy with an understanding of the news cycle
Strong time-management skills with the ability to balance multiple deadlines
Interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external partners
Compensation The listed annualized base pay range is primarily based on analysis of similar positions in the external market. Actual base pay could vary and may be above or below the listed range based on factors including but not limited to performance, proficiency and demonstration of competencies required for the role. The base pay is just one component of The Hartford’s total compensation package for employees. Other rewards may include short-term or annual bonuses, long-term incentives, and on-the-spot recognition. The annualized base pay range for this role is:
$55,000 - $70,000
