Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) – Full Time
Full‑time position located in Slingerlands, NY. The Behavioral Support Department is hiring a 40‑hour, Monday‑Friday, salaried, exempt BIS. Pay rate is $62,553.20 per year.
Responsibilities Develop and implement behavior support plans (BSP) using a person‑centered, strength‑based approach in accordance with NYS OPWDD regulatory requirements and the agency’s mission. Train staff regarding BSPs and monitor effectiveness through data analysis and observation. Remote work is possible, but BISs are expected to attend meetings and visit WWAARC programs on their caseload.
Qualifications
At least 18 years of age
Have a valid driver’s license
A Master’s Degree in behavior analysis (BCBA) or a field closely related to clinical or community psychology approved by OPWDD; OR a Master’s Degree in a clinical or treatment field of psychology, social work, school psychology, applied psychology, or a related human services field; OR a NYS license in Mental Health Counseling with at least 5 years of experience working directly with people supported with I/DD and/or supervising and training others on behavior support plans AND have obtained OPWDD approved specialized training or experience in functional assessment techniques and BSP development; OR have a Bachelor’s Degree in a human services field and have provided behavioral services for an agency in the OPWDD system since December 31, 2012 while working toward a Master’s Degree in an applied area of psychology, social work, or special education.
