Summary The Account Manager II is responsible for working with Strategic Account Executives, Account Executives, and Client Support Specialist to service client accounts. The position requires day to day client servicing for an assigned book of business and requires extensive verbal, electronic and other written communications. The Account Manager II will assist with the renewal and marketing process, and prepare materials for presentations and communications, in collaboration with their more senior team members. At this level, an Account Manager II will lead open enrollment presentations and may take an active role in client meetings. Work is completed with a significant amount of independent discretion. While in this role, this person should be developing relationships with clients and carrier contacts and working proactively to effectively and efficiently deliver services to clients.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Works proactively to develop relationships with carrier and client contacts.

Communicates directly with clients and carriers with little to no collaboration with senior team members.

Takes the lead on reviewing plan documents such as; contracts, benefit plan summaries, and certificates of insurance for accuracy.

Develops and maintains ongoing relationships with clients. Takes more of an active role in client meetings and calls.

Communicates directly with clients and relies on the detailed knowledge of various insurance coverages and compliance regulations.

Enhances knowledge with carrier representatives and better understand available products and services in the marketplace to recommend them to clients.

Works with senior team members to identify the strategies to meet client needs.

Assists with client renewals and client meeting presentations; responsible for first draft of presentations.

Creates and updates benefit guides, ensures client resources and communication materials are accurate for open enrollment and perpetual enrollment.

Prepares document and data for annual client compliance audits to be presented by Strategic Account Executives and Account Executives.

Troubleshoot and resolve client requests including product or vendor service or performance challenges.

Ensures ACA forms and 5500 forms are completed and filed in a timely manner.

Assembles updates for clients regarding appropriate industry trends, benchmarking and events, including all state and federal regulatory issues in conjunction with Account Executives.

Knowledge of alternative funding strategies such as; self-funding, level-funding, reference based pricing, ICHRA, etc.

Exceptional client service support in conjunction with the account management team.

Responsible for client projects such as implementation of new business, open enrollment process, non-discrimination testing, etc.

Provides informal leadership or mentor more junior team members, based on experience, without official supervisory responsibility.

Performs and creates bill audits, bill reconciliation, self-bill invoices. Share results and deliverables with Account Executives and clients.

Works with client and Internal teams to setup benefits enrollment platform for open enrollment.

Performs other duties as assigned and consistently makes independent judgments.

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities

Knowledge of benefits administration, billing reconciliation, enrollment audits, payroll deductions, Health Care Reform (ACA), industry trends, carrier products and services, alternative funding methods including; self-funding, level-funding, and ICHRA

Ability to travel more than 50 miles from office

Ability to work independently and anticipate client and team needs

Effective time management and decision making skills

Ability to express ideas clearly in both written and oral communications

Intermediate knowledge and skills of Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint

Knowledge of Employee Navigator and or BSwift (preferred)

Engaging and interactive presentation and public speaking abilities

Education and/or Experience

Associates degree (or equivalent), and BA/BS preferred

More than 3 years’ client service and/or industry and product line experience

Certificates, Licenses, Registration

Life, Accident and Health Insurance License required.

The base salary range for this position is $52,000 – $92,000. The base salary offered will be determined by factors including, but not limited to, experience, credentials, education, certifications, skill level required for the position, the scope of the position, and geographic location. Actual base salary offered will be determined on a case-by-case basis. In addition to the base salary, this position may be eligible for performance-based incentives.
