About the Role The Inside Sales Representative in the steel manufacturing industry plays a critical role in driving revenue growth by managing and expanding customer relationships through proactive communication and sales strategies. The ideal candidate excels at sales to both business clients (B2B) and independent customers, understands construction principles, and is committed to providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced, agile environment. This position focuses on understanding customer needs, providing tailored product solutions, and facilitating the sales process from initial inquiry to order fulfillment. The representative will collaborate closely with production, logistics, and engineering teams to ensure customer specifications are met and delivery timelines are maintained. Success in this role requires a deep knowledge of steel products and market trends, combined with strong negotiation and problem‑solving skills. Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is preferred.
Minimum of 2 years of inside sales experience, preferably within the manufacturing or steel industry.
Proficiency in using CRM systems and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and trust with customers.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities and work effectively in a fast‑paced environment.
Preferred Qualifications
Prior experience in B2B, B2C, or construction sales is strongly preferred
Experience selling pre‑engineered metal buildings (PEMB), metal roofing, or structural steel
Bilingual abilities highly recommended (Spanish/English or other languages)
Experience in the construction or manufacturing industry preferred
Familiarity with industry‑specific software, such as Metal Building Software (MBS), is an advantage
Experience working in steel manufacturing or a related heavy industry sector.
Knowledge of steel product specifications, industry standards, and market dynamics.
Familiarity with CRM software (preferred but not required)
Familiarity with ERP systems and sales analytics tools.
Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets in a B2B environment.
Additional training or certification in sales techniques or customer relationship management.
Responsibilities
Engage with existing and prospective customers via phone, email, and virtual meetings to identify their steel product requirements and provide expert guidance.
Prepare and present accurate quotes, proposals, and order confirmations while ensuring alignment with customer specifications and company capabilities.
Coordinate with internal departments such as production, quality control, and logistics to track order status and resolve any issues impacting delivery or product quality.
Maintain detailed records of customer interactions, sales activities, and pipeline status using CRM software to support forecasting and reporting.
Develop and implement sales strategies to achieve or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets within assigned territories or customer segments.
Manage the full sales cycle from initial inquiry to closing, serving both business clients and independent customers
Develop and maintain a pipeline of qualified leads through proactive outreach and relationship‑building
Conduct needs assessments and deliver tailored solutions that align with client requirements and company offerings
Read and interpret construction drawings or blueprints to provide accurate project information
Collaborate with engineering, project management, and customer service teams to ensure seamless project delivery
Prepare detailed quotes using design or quoting tools; familiarity with industry software such as Metal Building Software (MBS) is a plus
Meet or exceed monthly and quarterly sales targets, tracking progress using CRM software
Provide timely and accurate sales forecasts and reports to management
Deliver exceptional customer service throughout the sales process
