Corgan is seeking an experienced

Communications Manager, Media Relations

to lead the media strategy and public-facing narrative for several of its sectors. This role is responsible for strengthening Corgan’s visibility, thought leadership, and reputation across architecture, design, business, and industry media. The Communications Manager guides media engagement, shaping stories, and ensuring the firm’s work, research, and people are positioned with clarity and impact.

The ideal candidate is a senior-level media relations professional with knowledge of the built-environment media landscape, strong journalist relationships, and the judgment to manage communications with media and with firm leadership. This role combines strategic oversight with hands‑on execution and collaboration across markets, sectors, and leadership.

Responsibilities Media Relations Strategy & Execution

Develop and execute firmwide media relations strategies that advance Corgan’s brand, business priorities, and national and global visibility.

Proactively identify, pitch, and place stories that elevate Corgan’s projects, research, thought leadership, and market expertise.

Build, manage, and deepen relationships with journalists, editors, producers, and influencers across architecture, design, business, and industry‑specific outlets.

Track and assess media coverage, using insights to refine strategy and identify emerging opportunities.

Leadership & Spokesperson Support

Serve as the media advisor to firm leaders, providing counsel on messaging, positioning, risks, and opportunities.

Partner with market and sector leaders to identify compelling stories and prepare them for interviews, press moments and speaking engagements.

Develop and refine talking points, Q&A, executive bios, and briefing materials for senior leaders.

Lead media preparation and coordination for major announcements, project milestones, awards, research releases, and firm initiatives.

Content Development & Reputation Management

Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, media pitches, advisories, and other press materials.

Support reputation management and issues response, offering sound judgment and rapid‑response communications when needed.

Anticipate potential risks and advise leadership on mitigation strategies.

Collaboration & Integration

Collaborate closely with firmwide Communications, Marketing and Brand teams to ensure consistent, integrated messaging.

Coordinate media efforts across studios, markets, and creative services, managing timelines and dependencies.

Provide guidance and direction to communications team members supporting media relations efforts.

Innovation, Analytics & Tools

Stay current on evolving media trends, platforms, and storytelling formats within architecture, design, and professional services.

Use analytics and reporting tools to evaluate media performance, audience reach, and message resonance.

Identify opportunities to strengthen media processes, templates, and workflows to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications Qualifications

12–15 years of experience in media relations, public relations, or strategic communications, preferably within architecture, design, commercial real estate, development, aviation. A minimum of five years within the AEC industry is required.

Proven track record of securing high‑value coverage in national, design, architecture, and business media.

Established network of journalist and editor relationships.

Deep understanding of the built‑environment media landscape and emerging storytelling opportunities.

Exceptional writing and editing skills, with the ability to translate complex ideas into compelling, accessible narratives.

Experience preparing senior leaders for interviews, speaking engagements, and public appearances.

Strong project management, organizational, and relationship‑building skills.

Strategic, proactive, and calm under pressure, with sound judgment and a collaborative working style.

Requirements

This role requires full‑time, in‑office presence.

Locations: Dallas, Texas or New York City

Base Salary Range: $142,000 - $165,000 annually – New York City location only

The estimate range represents the general base salary range of candidates hired in New York City only. Factors that may be used to determine your actual salary may include internal equity, experience, education, specialty, and training. In addition, base salary is not inclusive of total compensation.
