
Overview
The Public Relations Coordinator supports the execution of public relations and communications initiatives that enhance brand awareness and protect organizational reputation. This role works closely with internal stakeholders and external media to ensure clear, consistent, and timely messaging. The PR Coordinator is highly organized, detail-oriented, and eager to contribute to integrated communications efforts.
This position may be located in either our Fort Wayne, IN or our Indianapolis, IN office.
Responsibilities
Assist in planning and executing public relations strategies and campaigns.
Draft, edit, and distribute press releases, media pitches, talking points, interview backgrounders and other communications materials.
Support the PR team in planning and recapping client meetings.
Maintain and update media lists, press contacts, and editorial calendars.
Coordinate logistics for media interviews, press events, product launches, and trade shows. Attend interviews and events as needed.
Monitor media coverage and compile reports on reach, sentiment, and key metrics.
Support crisis communications and issues management efforts as directed.
Collaborate with Account Services, Social Media, and other internal teams to align messaging.
Track deadlines, approvals, and project status to ensure timely delivery of PR initiatives.
Qualifications
High level of accuracy and strong attention to detail are critical.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines across teams and vendors using project management tools.
Team-oriented mindset with the ability to work cross-functional in a fast-paced environment.
Inspires and develops others, manages priorities effectively, and fosters a team-oriented environment.
Comfortable working across multiple clients and industries.
Uses data to guide decision-making and continuously improve performance.
Articulates ideas clearly and persuasively in both written and verbal forms.
Occasional travel to client sites, conferences, or company offices as needed.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Professional judgment and discretion when handling sensitive information.
Proficiency in media monitoring tools preferred.
Adaptability and willingness to learn in a dynamic communications landscape.
Education And Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field. Experience in lieu of education may be considered.
1–3 years of experience in public relations, communications, or related roles (internships may be considered).
Experience supporting media relations or content development preferred.
Physical Demands
Must be able to sit at a desk for prolonged periods of time, particularly while working on a computer.
Ability to alternate sitting, standing, and walking frequently.
Occasional lifting or carrying of items up to 25 lbs.
