
Technical Sales & Applications Engineer (USA)

Responsible for the co-ordination and liaison of Technical Sales enquiries within the company, acting as the technical interface between the customer and DEEP Manufacturing’s internal departments.
The role will sit within the Technical Sales & Applications Engineering department in DEEP Manufacturing and will be a critical role in supporting the growth of the newly created DMI (DEEP Manufacturing Inc.) site in Houston, TX, ensuring we are able to meet our sales targets.
The successful candidate will work with and report to the Global Technical Sales & Applications Engineering Manager, based in the UK within the Commercial team, to maximise the revenue growth of the business. This is a hands‑on technical role requiring a strong mechanical and manufacturing engineering background to translate customer requirements into manufacturable solutions using DEEP Manufacturing’s DED‑Arc capability. The role is critical in supporting customer enquiries, liaising with the Technical and Production Teams to ensure requirements can be met, helping to adjust requirements where necessary, and working with the client to ensure that design requirements, technical scope, and specified lead times are understood.
Key responsibilities
Act as the technical interface between customers and internal Technical/Production Teams, owning CAD packages, specifications, and manufacturability requirements.
Translate customer needs into clear internal instructions; identify risks, resolve gaps, and support closure of technical queries to progress orders.
Produce customer‑facing proposals, scope writeups, and costing sheets, ensuring smooth handover for accurate and timely project execution.
Maintain strong customer communication as the technical point of contact, promoting DEEP Manufacturing’s DED‑Arc capability and representing the company at presentations, conferences, and trade shows.
Gather and analyze client feedback to support product/service improvement, understand future needs, and manage multiple fast‑paced projects in parallel.
Qualifications
Degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Materials Engineering, or related field (Master’s desirable).
Proven experience as an Applications/Technical Sales/Manufacturing Project Engineer in a mechanical manufacturing environment.
Based in Houston, TX; US driving license; willing to travel globally.
Skills & Knowledge
Strong mechanical/manufacturing engineering foundation with ability to interpret constraints, tolerances, GD&T, and translate drawings/specifications into manufacturable scopes.
Rapid learning capability for DEEP Manufacturing’s DED‑Arc process and solid understanding of DfM principles.
Proficient in CAD (e.g., Autodesk Inventor, Fusion 360), reviewing designs for manufacturability, and producing proposals, assumptions/exclusions, and costing sheets.
Confident communicator under challenge, effective at cross‑functional collaboration, multitasking, and prioritising in high‑urgency environments.
Familiarity with US Defense programs and/or Oil&Gas projects is highly desirable.
Desirable knowledge of classification standards (DNV, API, LR, ABS, ASME)
Proficiency in using CRM systems (Salesforce), Microsoft Office, and trade show/presentation work.
