Business Intelligence and Prospect Strategies The mission of Business Intelligence and Prospect Strategies is to evolve data from their raw state to elevated forms such as information, knowledge, insight, and wisdom to maximize impact for stakeholder decision-making. As such Business Intelligence and Prospect Strategies is comprised of three teams: Business Intelligence, which optimizes the impact of data quantitatively and/or visually to achieve Advancement business objectives; Prospect Research, which provides key wealth-, relationship-, and inclination-related details on individual constituents; and Prospect Management, which oversees prospect-, portfolio-, and pathway-related processes, leading to developing strategies for its clients within Advancement.

Prospect Management Analyst Reporting to the Assistant Director of Prospect Management, the PM Analyst contributes to the team’s focus in assigning new prospects for centrally-based major gift officers who support both the schools and numerous presidential strategic priorities, as well as for fundraisers assigned to the 17 colleges and schools at Boston University. The PM Analyst also contributes to another PM team priority: portfolio optimization and management. Using tools and inputs provided by Prospect Analytics and other data providers, the PM Analyst supports the PM team’s efforts to prioritize prospects within individual fundraiser’s portfolio, thus playing a key role in setting and achieving Advancement's major gift fundraising goals.

Responsibilities

Assist fundraisers in building and maintaining high-quality portfolios by identifying and assigning new major gift prospects and prioritizing existing prospects using established best practices and operating procedures.

Perform routine maintenance and audit of prospect data and prospect assignments; monitor data integrity to report key metrics for individual fundraiser portfolios.

Conduct collaborative portfolio consultation and portfolio building meetings with individual fundraisers using key reporting metrics and fundraisers knowledge of individual prospects.

Draft and publish policy and procedure documentation to support gift officer operations.

Communicate and train gift officers on process and policy recommendations created by the PM team to foster collaboration on teams and ensure alignment with industry best practices.

Interpret prospect and portfolio reports that support Advancement metrics and goals in partnership with gift officers.

Track success and growth of PM operations and regularly report progress to the PM team.

Bachelor’s degree

Understanding of philanthropy and the role of prospect management, preferably in a higher education setting

Ability to analyze, interpret, and synthesize various datapoints for making assignment and prioritization decisions with fundraiser partners

Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills

Personal belief in mission, goals and objectives of private higher education

Superb judgment and sensibility to adjudicate wisely among competing priorities

Strong strategic and project management skills, including demonstrated ability to relate well to, and understand the needs and interests of a diverse group of fundraising professionals in a fast-moving environment

Solid understanding and ability to collaborate and develop partnerships across the University

Expectational ability to take initiative, be proactive, and be self-motivated

Extreme organizational skills with excellent attention to detail

Ability to keep donor and donor prospect information confidential

High proficiency in relevant software, CRM’s, operations and procedures, including University wide systems and applications
