Senior Associate, Strategy & Operations Analytics
Grubhub, Chicago, Illinois, United States, 60290
About Grubhub
At Grubhub, we champion restaurants from coast to coast. Restaurants sit at the heart of communities. It’s our mission to strengthen their roots, deepen their connections, and increase the positive impact they have on people and society.
Grubhub, part of Wonder, delivers the best local, authentic cuisine right to diners’ doors—and new customers and billions in revenue to local businesses. Featuring over 375,000 merchants in over 4,000 cities nationwide, our innovative technology, user‑friendly platforms, and streamlined delivery capabilities have made us an industry leader in the world of online food ordering.
Since we opened our doors in 2004, Grubhub has been opening doors all across the country. Bakery doors in Hyde Park, jibarito joint doors in Queens, and doors of opportunity all across the country. Join our team and help us open more.
About The Opportunity Grubhub’s Strategy and Operations team is the engine of the company’s executive office. We are responsible for defining the corporate operating rhythm, ensuring alignment across the ELT, and driving the execution of our most critical, cross‑functional strategic priorities.
As the Senior Associate, Strategy & Operations Analytics, you will be the analytical heartbeat of this team. You aren’t just a data provider; you are a strategic partner who turns complex data into narratives that shape the future of the company. You will spend your time doing what matters most: digging into data to uncover business‑critical insights, professionalizing our executive reporting suite, and supporting high‑stakes initiatives as we prepare for an IPO.
Reporting to the Head of Strategy, you will flex across executive governance, deep‑divе strategic analysis, and CEO/Wonder leadership priorities. You must be comfortable working with both technical data engineering teams and cross‑functional leadership, translating complexity into clarity at every turn.
The Impact You Will Make
Executive Operating System & Governance
Maintain and evolve the Executive Leadership Team (ELT) performance dashboard (Tableau), ensuring it remains the "Single Source of Truth" for the company.
Develop the analytical commentary for MBRs, QBRs, and weekly ELT read‑outs. You won’t just report the "what"—you will explain the "why" and the "so what."
Lead the ongoing reconciliation of core strategic metrics (e.g., unit economics, merchant yield, customer LTV) across Finance, Product, and Marketing to ensure the ELT is aligned on data definitions.
Strategic Deep Dives & IPO Readiness
Support the rigorous analytical requirements for IPO readiness, ensuring our business narratives are backed by deep, defensible data.
Identify performance drivers and growth opportunities by diving deep into our marketplace dynamics. You will diagnose "leaks" in the business and help structure cross‑functional solutions.
Act as a "fast‑lane" resource for the CEO and Head of Strategy, executing rapid‑response analyses for urgent executive requests or high‑level strategic explorations.
Key Initiative & Partnership Support
Provide the analytical backbone for business‑critical projects.
Create sophisticated financial and operational models to size opportunities and inform resource allocation decisions.
Design and produce high‑quality communication materials (decks, data visualizations) for strategic meetings and Board updates.
Cross‑Functional Partnership
Act as the bridge between the Strategy and Operations teams and functional analytics teams (Growth, Product, Logistics). You will champion best practices and ensure strategic priorities are reflected in functional roadmaps.
Leverage emerging AI tools (LLMs, MCPs) to automate workflows, accelerate insight generation, and elevate the team’s analytical capabilities.
What You Bring to the Table The Technical Horsepower
Expert SQL: You are comfortable writing complex queries to extract data from large, multi‑sided marketplace datasets.
Visualization Mastery: You have deep expertise in Tableau (or similar tools) and a proven ability to build dashboards that executives use to make decisions.
Storytelling: You have a "consultant’s eye" for data—the ability to distill sophisticated analysis into clear, compelling, and actionable narratives.
AI Fluency: Eagerness to stay current with and integrate AI tools into your analytical workflow to enhance productivity and insight depth.
The Business Acumen
4‑6+ years of experience in a high‑impact analytics role, management consulting, or strategic business operations.
Marketplace Expertise: Familiarity with subscription, marketplace, or two‑sided platform economics is a plus.
Cross‑functional collaboration: You are comfortable interacting with and influencing stakeholders at many levels, across many different teams.
Bias for Action: You are a self‑starter who can spot an opportunity, set a direction, and drive work forward independently in a fast‑paced environment. You strive to clarify problem statements, simplify analyses and drive to "80/20" answers vs. churning for perfection.
Operational Rigor: Exceptional organizational skills and a meticulous eye for detail.
What Success Looks Like
Your analyses drive major decisions on where the company invests and prioritizes.
The CEO and ELT view your dashboards as the definitive source of organizational alignment.
You have successfully professionalized the data environment as we move toward IPO.
You are seen as a strategic thought partner, not just a data resource, by functional leads across the company.
As a matter of company policy, Wonder does not sponsor applicants for employment visa status for this role.
Our hybrid model requires 3 days a week in the office. That said, many team members choose to come in more often to take advantage of in‑person collaboration and connection. You're welcome—and encouraged—to be in the office up to 5 days a week if it works for you.
Illinois: $94,000 - $105,000 per year
