SEEKING: We are seeking a Communication and Marketing Specialist for our agency


RESPONSIBLE TO: Chief Financial Officer


PROGRAM DESCRIPTION:

The Administrative Office of Child Care of the Berkshires (CCB) provides a variety of support services to the agency as a whole, including human resources, finance and accounting services, strategizing on essential day-to-day business operations, leading core initiatives, and establishing organization-wide policies and procedures in order to support the childcare and family support services of the agency.


BASIC FUNCTION:

The Communication and Marketing Specialist provides communication and marketing support to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and Senior Management team, leading initiatives that strengthen the visibility and outreach of CCB. Primary responsibilities include managing communication strategies, coordinating marketing efforts, and overseeing social media presence.


Under general supervision, the Communication and Marketing Specialist performs a variety of marketing and communication functions, developing and managing local initiatives across both traditional and digital media platforms. This position interacts regularly with CCB personnel, consumers, and the public on a wide range of communications-related matters.


The Communication and Marketing Specialist will identify opportunities for new content and public relations projects that align with CCB’s mission and marketing objectives. The position will also represent CCB at events both on-site and within the community, including annual meetings, press events, open houses, and outreach activities.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Prepare and publish publicity content such as press releases, newsletters, website updates, and other CCB related announcements.
  • Create, plan, and publish engaging social media content on a regular schedule, monitoring performance, and growing our online presence.
  • Assist with creative projects, including but not limited to graphic design and development of marketing materials. Prepare materials for CCB events, as assigned.
  • Design and support production of CCB’s annual report.
  • Gather and analyze data to continually improve the quality and effectiveness of marketing and communications initiatives.
  • Attend and contribute to internal meetings as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the overall mission and goals of CCB.
Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or in progress) in Marketing, Communication, Business, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of effective business communication principles, including correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation, with an eye for detail and brand storytelling.
  • Experience or background in child care programs or organizations that provide assistance and support to families, preferred.
  • Entry-level marketing experience developing and implementing communications strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide high quality, friendly, professional customer service and to communicate clearly and pleasantly both in person and by phone, email, or video.
  • Proficiency with Wix, Google Suite, MailChimp, and social media platforms. Willingness to learn and train on Canva, and other software programs as needed.
  • Skilled in managing CCB’s digital marketing strategy, including social media platforms such as Facebook, Google+, and Instagram, and email campaigns with strong attention to detail, creativity, and an eye for graphic design.
  • Highly organized self-starter with the ability to prioritize projects and meet deadlines.
  • Able to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Flexible and adaptable, with the ability to take direction, to take initiative, and to adjust quickly to last-minute changes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment for this position will vary depending on the event or task being performed. The Communications Specialist may work at one of Child Care of the Berkshires’ locations (North Adams, Adams, or Pittsfield), in the community at events, or remotely from their home office. Flexibility and the ability to adapt to different settings are key components of this role.


WORK SCHEDULE AND YEAR: This is a year-round position requiring approximately 5–10 hours per week. Working hours fall within the 8:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday schedule, with occasional weekends or evenings as needed for special community events.


SALARY AND BENEFITS: This part-time, non-exempt position offers an hourly rate of $23-$24, based on experience. Benefits include MA Earned Sick Time. In addition, we offer a supportive and flexible work environment that values collaboration and community impact.
