
Performs diagnostic and therapeutic procedures for patients of all ages utilizing radiopharmaceuticals. Applies principals of radiation protection. Exercises professional judgment in performance of service. Provides patient care to patients of all ages. Night and weekend call is required. Proficiency in PACS.
Qualifications Required
Education : Graduate of an approved Nuclear Medicine Technology program with an Associate degree or equivalent required.
Certifications/Registrations/Licenses:
Must be registry eligible.
Registry completed with nine (9) months of employment.
American Heart Association BLS CPR certification required.
SCRQSA certification required.
Preferred
Experience : Up to 1 year experience is required, 1 to 2 years preferred.
Certifications/Registrations/Licenses:
ARRT and/or NMTCB registry preferred.
Responsibilities
Obtains patient data before procedure - DOB, age, and history. Usually explains procedure to be performed, facilitates patient’s cooperation and alleviates anxiety.
Utilizes proper Radiation Safety with patient, self, and others.
Always demonstrates working knowledge and proficiency with imaging equipment, including but not limited to: computers (acquisition and processing), dose calibrator, PACS, and Syntrac system.
Always measures dosage for each patient following correct procedures; observes established precautions against overexposure.
Administers isotope dosage accurately following established departmental procedure; accurate records dosage administered.
Performs related duties as required.
