Apogem Capital is recruiting an Associate or Senior Associate for the Private Credit strategy. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of credit underwriting and can demonstrate an ability to balance detail with broader issues, in both written and oral communication. The primary responsibilities include conducting industry research and reviewing diligence, preparing transaction memos and underwriting reports, developing financial models, assisting in deal closings, and managing a portfolio of accounts. Associate candidates are able to draw thoughtful and relevant conclusions based on their analysis of new transactions and portfolio accounts and can effectively communicate their findings both internally and externally. An Associate candidate should have a working knowledge of the practical application of the senior loan documents. The role is based in Chicago.
What You'll Do
Manage complex financial modeling.
Conduct industry research to supplement third‑party reports.
Organize, review, and present transaction due diligence.
Identify and analyze underwriting strengths and risks.
Support the underwriting of credit facilities, including preparation of written documents (internal underwriting memos and term sheets), communication with transaction stakeholders (senior and subordinated lenders, the private equity sponsor, and the target company), and assistance in the legal documentation and closing process.
Proactive problem solving and active daily management of a portfolio of accounts.
What You'll Bring
BA/BS required.
Approximately 2‑3 years of relevant work experience for Associate (3‑6 years for Senior Associate).
Robust analytical, problem‑solving and organizational skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to multi‑task and manage time and workload efficiently.
Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
Demonstrate effective working relationship with teammates.
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Prior cash flow lending experience preferred, but not required.
Pay Transparency Salary range: $125,000 - $150,000.
Overtime eligible: Exempt.
Discretionary bonus eligible: Yes.
Sales bonus eligible: No.
Actual base salary will be determined based on several factors including individual’s experience, skills, qualifications, and job location. In addition to base salary, employees may also be eligible to participate in an incentive program.
