Position Overview The Director of MTSS serves as the schoolwide instructional leader responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring Georgia Connections Academy’s Multi‑Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) for students in grades K–12. This role ensures that academic, behavioral, and social‑emotional interventions are data‑driven, evidence‑based, and implemented with fidelity across all grade bands.
Working collaboratively with principals, instructional leaders, counselors, special education staff, and student services teams, the Director of MTSS leads systems that identify student needs early, provide timely and targeted interventions, and monitor progress to improve student outcomes in literacy, mathematics, and behavior. This position plays a critical role in advancing instructional excellence, equity, and access for all learners in a statewide virtual learning environment.

Key Responsibilities: Effective Use of Data
Analyze data related to individual students, groups of students, and classrooms to positively impact academic achievement and student behavior.
Provide training and ongoing support for data systems that deliver critical student achievement information, including RTI/MTSS software tools such as universal screeners, progress monitoring platforms, and system‑level data tools.
Meet with teachers individually and in grade‑level or content‑area teams to support data interpretation, determine intervention effectiveness, and plan next steps for student support.
Monitor and evaluate intervention outcomes and adjust supports based on progress monitoring data.
Instructional Leadership and MTSS Implementation
Lead the identification process for students requiring literacy, math, and behavioral or social‑emotional interventions across grades K–12.
Ensure that identified students receive high‑quality, evidence‑based interventions implemented with fidelity.
Provide training and support on the effective use of school‑based intervention teams and MTSS structures.
Assist with monitoring reading and math instruction to ensure alignment with sound, evidence‑based instructional practices.
Consult regularly with instructional leaders and student services teams regarding the progress of students receiving academic and behavioral interventions.
Collaboration and Student Support Systems
Work collaboratively with principals, counselors, special education staff, and instructional leaders to support a cohesive, schoolwide MTSS framework.
Facilitate collaboration across administrators, teachers, and support staff to ensure alignment and shared ownership of student outcomes.
Support the Student Support Team (SST) and Response to Intervention (RTI) processes, including planning, scheduling, and leading meetings in coordination with school leaders, parents, and instructional staff.
Collaborate with student support teams to facilitate eligibility determinations for special education when appropriate.
Family and Community Engagement
Build effective relationships among teachers, families, and community partners to support student performance and well‑being.
Communicate clearly with families regarding intervention processes, progress monitoring, and next steps.
Support family understanding of MTSS structures and student supports in a virtual learning environment.
Professional Leadership
Contribute to an effective, collaborative leadership team committed to achieving schoolwide goals and continuous improvement.
Exhibit a high degree of professionalism in all aspects of the role, serving as a role model for staff.
Engage in ongoing professional learning related to MTSS, data analysis, instructional practices, and student support systems.
Perform related duties as assigned.
Work Location and Travel Expectations
This position is based on‑site at the Georgia Connections Academy office in Duluth, Georgia.
Regular in‑state travel is expected to support in‑person meetings, assessments, and school events.
Occasional out‑of‑state travel may be required for professional conferences, training, or leadership development.
Qualifications: Required
Masters Degree in Education
Valid Georgia Tier I Leadership and Clearance certification, or the ability to obtain appropriate certification in a designated timeframe.
Experience leading or supporting MTSS, RTI, intervention programs, or student support systems.
Strong understanding of literacy, math, and behavioral/social‑emotional interventions.
Demonstrated ability to analyze and apply data to drive instructional and intervention decisions.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with administrators, teachers, counselors, and support staff.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Preferred
Experience serving in a district‑or school‑level MTSS leadership role.
Experience supporting MTSS implementation in a virtual or blended learning environment.
Experience leading professional development related to data‑driven instruction and interventions.
