Full-Time / Non-Exempt Objective of the Position
The Housing Specialist I is an onsite professional responsible for conducting initial and ongoing eligibility determinations and processing routine transactions for subsidized housing programs. This role supports program participants, applicants, and landlords by providing accurate, timely, and service‑focused assistance. The ideal candidate is professional, efficient, and results‑driven, taking ownership of their work while demonstrating integrity and a commitment to service excellence. The Housing Specialist I resolves issues with care, communicates effectively, and ensures that all interactions uphold program requirements and reinforce a positive customer experience. Summary of Key Responsibilities
Conduct initial and ongoing eligibility determinations for program applicants and participants in accordance with subsidized housing program requirements. Process routine transactions such as annual and interim recertifications, rent calculations, income/asset verifications, and household updates with accuracy and timeliness. Provide onsite customer service to participants, applicants, and landlords by answering questions, resolving issues, and guiding them through program processes. Maintain accurate documentation and update case files, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations, policies, and internal standards. Communicate clearly and professionally through written and verbal interactions, ensuring information is delivered in a helpful and service‑oriented manner. Investigate and resolve discrepancies or concerns by exercising sound judgment, integrity, and attention to detail. Collaborate with team members and supervisors to support consistent, efficient workflow and contribute to a high‑performing, results‑driven environment. Uphold service excellence by taking ownership of assigned caseloads, meeting deadlines, and ensuring each customer receives respectful and efficient assistance. Participate in team meetings and training sessions. Qualification and Skills
Education High school diploma or equivalent required. Associate or bachelor’s degree preferred. HCV certification is preferred. Experience Minimum of 1 year of experience in subsidized housing programs eligibility required. Skills and Competencies Strong organizational and time management skills. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office programs. Travel Requirement
