$22.53 – $28.17 /hour.

Location Denver Parks and Recreation is seeking a Parks Utility Worker II to support Park Operations in the Northeast district. This is a full‑time, benefitted opportunity that will perform a wide variety of general park maintenance duties and will also perform lead work over less experienced workers. This individual will have the opportunity to make an impact and grow professionally from unique experiences and maintaining highly visible parks.
This position will work Monday – Friday, 6:00 a.m.– 2:30 p.m., and will work some weekends to accommodate special events/projects or respond to snow removal.
What You’ll Do
Work outdoors in parks using and maintaining various hand‑powered tools and motorized equipment in a safe and efficient manner and demonstrating proper use as needed
Perform landscape maintenance duties such as turf maintenance (e.g., laying sod, fertilizing, mowing, edging, raking), irrigation (minor maintenance, repair, troubleshooting and use of central control systems), and ornamental/garden maintenance (planting, weeding, minor pruning)
Perform infrastructure maintenance and repair such as fencing, asphalt, concrete, trails work, grade work/erosion control
Exercise leadership skills over less experienced parks workers and serve as an example of proper work skills including training and supporting the development and orientation of workers
Work collaboratively and build strong working relationships with park maintenance generalists and/or specialists such as Irrigation Maintenance Technicians, Horticultural Workers, Park Horticulturists, and other experts in unique green industry fields and skilled trades work
Perform snow removal operations such as plowing, shoveling, de‑icing
Perform various related duties as needed such as trash collection, bathroom maintenance and cleaning, vandalism repair/graffiti removal

Required Minimum Qualifications
Education requirement: None
Experience Requirement: One (1) year of experience performing unskilled labor work
Education/Experience Equivalency: Additional appropriate education may be substituted for the minimum experience requirement
License/Certifications: Requires a valid Driver's License at the time of application. Licenses and certifications must be kept current as a condition of employment
