The Organization
The Phipps Center for the Arts is a multidisciplinary arts organization located on the St. Croix River in Hudson, WI. We display art in our Galleries, produce adult and children’s theater, present concerts, and offer educational programming in art, theater, dance, and music.
Mission Statement The Phipps Center for the Arts, propelled by our community-based arts council, serves as a welcoming and open home for the St. Croix River Valley region and beyond, empowering and cultivating lifelong artistic expression, participation and appreciation.
The Job The business director is one of the management team of our organization, and is responsible for all aspects of our accounting and financial duties, including:
Deposits, payables, processing contributions and issuing gift acknowledgment letters
Journal entries, sales and financial reporting, bank reconciliations
Present financial statements to the board of directors and finance committee
Payroll processing, employee benefits management
Compiling donor listings, mailing lists, and managing customer databases
Creation of the annual organization budget, in partnership with other staff
Working with our auditors to produce the audited financial statements and tax returns
Work hours are 9:30 – 5:00, Monday – Friday. Extra hours may occasionally be required for meetings or events.
The ideal candidate will
Have a degree in accounting
7 or more years of experience in accounting, preferably in a nonprofit setting
Be detail-oriented
Be able to work independently without much direct supervision and produce accurate reports to deadline
Be able to manage multiple tasks and prioritize based on importance and urgency
Communicate well verbally and in writing
Be familiar and comfortable with Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Have experience with Quickbooks
Salary and Benefits
$63,000-$67,000 per year, exempt, full-time on-site
