Description
General Description: Responsible for a combination of medical billing and collections.
Essential Functions Include But Are Not Limited To
Enter patient demographics from hospital EHR into our PM system.
Post charges for assigned facilities.
Work electronic insurance rejects daily to retransmit with corrected insurance information.
Enter notes in the collection system of action taken.
Communicate information needed for collections to the Director, RCM.
Answer questions from patients, staff, and insurance companies.
Identify and resolve patent billing complaints
Perform various collection actions including contacting patients by phone, correcting and resubmitting claims to third party payers.
Follow-up on unpaid claims within standard billing cycle timeframe.
Send reconsiderations and appeals through insurance portals.
Maintain strict confidentiality; adheres to all HIPAA guidelines/regulations.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements Education: High School diploma or GED.
Skills/Experience
Two plus years billing/collecting in the health care field is required.
Knowledge of medical billing/collection practices.
Knowledge of basic medical coding and third-party operating procedures and practices.
Ability to read, understand and follow oral and written instruction.
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and doctors
Must be well organized and detail oriented.
