
The Director of Tax will report to the Vice President of Tax and serve as the primary leader responsible for the company’s global ASC 740 income tax provision. This is a highly visible role with meaningful impact across the organization. In addition to leading tax accounting and financial reporting, this leader will partner closely with finance, accounting, legal, and other stakeholders to support income tax compliance, tax planning initiatives, and M&A activity.
This role is designed to provide broad exposure across multiple areas of corporate tax within a dynamic, growth-oriented manufacturing organization. Over time, the position offers the opportunity to expand leadership scope based on business needs and individual performance.
This is a hybrid position, with an expectation of at least 3–4 days per week on site to foster collaboration, cross-functional partnership, and strong team engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Review and sign off on the quarterly and annual income tax provision under ASC 740, including current and deferred tax calculations, effective tax rate analysis, income tax disclosures, tax footnotes, and related journal entries
Manage relationships with external tax and accounting advisors related to the audit of the tax provision and the evaluation of significant tax positions
Collaborate with the Vice President of Tax on planning, M&A, and strategic projects affecting the company’s global tax position
Partner with international finance teams to ensure accurate and timely reflection of tax accounts in the company’s consolidated global financial statements
Lead all tax aspects of purchase accounting for domestic and cross-border acquisitions, ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance
Support U.S. federal, state, and foreign income tax compliance processes in coordination with internal teams and external advisors
Drive continuous improvement of tax processes and procedures, including the implementation and optimization of tax software tools
Oversee quarterly SOX internal control procedures, ensuring appropriate documentation, testing, and compliance
Prepare technical accounting memoranda supporting significant U.S. GAAP tax positions
Assist in developing departmental policies, procedures, and processes to mitigate global corporate income tax risk
Serve as a key member of the tax leadership team, contributing to department strategy, talent development, and long-term priorities
Qualifications
10+ years of experience in a corporate tax department and/or a large public accounting firm
Demonstrated experience leading ASC 740 processes for a public company or public-company clients, supported by a strong technical accounting foundation
Strong technical knowledge of U.S. tax law, including domestic and international concepts
Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tax provision software, with a demonstrated ability to improve processes and adapt to evolving business needs
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain complex tax and accounting issues to both technical and non-technical audiences
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and independently resolve complex issues
Collaborative team player who builds strong partnerships across global tax, finance, and business teams
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
Master’s in Taxation preferred
