The **Executive Director, Shared Platform Products** owns the **product strategy, roadmap, and adoption** of the enterprise’s **shared digital platforms** that power multiple channels, journeys, and business domains.

This role ensures that foundational capabilities—such as **identity, profile, content, search, messaging, chat, notifications, configuration, workflow, and experimentation**—are delivered as **reusable, scalable, API-first products**, not one-off project solutions.

The ED is accountable for **product-market fit internally**, driving adoption, standardization, and measurable business outcomes across Digital Experience, AI, Integrations, and Operations.

• Identity & Access Platform (AuthN/AuthZ, consent, preferences)

• Member / User Profile Platform

• Content & Knowledge Platform

• Search & Discovery Platform

• Messaging, Chat & Notifications Platform

• Conversational Platform (shared flows for chat, IVR, bots)

• Workflow & Orchestration Platform

• Configuration & Feature Management Platform

• Experimentation, Personalization & A/B Platform

• Developer Platform (SDKs, APIs, self-service tooling)



**Key Responsibilities**

**1. Shared Platform Product Strategy**

• Define the **platform product vision and multi-year roadmap** aligned to enterprise digital and AI strategy.

• Clearly articulate **what is a shared platform vs. domain-specific capability**.

• Establish platform positioning as **build once, consume everywhere**.

• Balance innovation with stability and backward compatibility.



**2. Platform Product Ownership & Delivery**

• Own **end-to-end product accountability** for shared platforms:

• Product discovery and requirements

• Roadmap prioritization

• API and capability definition

• Adoption and lifecycle management

• Partner with engineering teams to deliver **scalable, secure, reliable platform capabilities**.

• Ensure platforms are **consumer-grade for internal teams** (excellent DX).



**3. Adoption, Reuse & Value Realization**

• Drive **enterprise adoption** of shared platforms across channels (web, mobile, chat, IVR, internal tools).

• Reduce duplication by deprecating overlapping or bespoke solutions.

• Define and track platform success metrics:

• Adoption and reuse rate

• Time-to-market reduction

• Cost avoidance and savings

• Experience consistency improvements

• Actively manage **platform migrations and decommissioning**.



**4. API-First & Platform Design**

• Ensure all shared platforms are:

• API-first and contract-driven

• Event-enabled where appropriate

• Secure, scalable, and extensible

• Partner with Architecture to align with **reference architectures and standards**.

• Enable seamless integration with AI, agentic workflows, and external partners.



**5. Cross-Functional Leadership & Governance**

• Serve as the **product authority** for shared platforms in enterprise planning and funding discussions.

• Partner closely with:

• Digital Experience (consumers of platforms)

• Digital Platform Engineering (builders)

• Architecture (standards and guardrails)

• AI (agentic and intelligent use cases)

• SRE & Security (reliability and compliance)

• Establish **lightweight governance** for platform intake, prioritization, and roadmap alignment.



**6. Organization & Talent Leadership**

• Build and lead a strong **platform product management organization**.

• Coach PMs on **platform thinking vs feature delivery**.

• Establish best practices for:

• Platform roadmapping

• Internal customer engagement

• API and capability documentation

• Platform lifecycle management



**Required Qualifications**

• 12+ years in **product management, platforms, or digital engineering**, with 5+ years in senior leadership roles.

• Proven experience owning **shared platforms used by multiple teams or business units**.

• Strong understanding of:

• Platform-as-a-product principles

• APIs, SDKs, and developer experience

• Distributed systems and cloud-native architectures

• Ability to influence without direct authority across large organizations.

• Strong executive communication and storytelling skills.



**Preferred Qualifications**

• Experience in healthcare, payments, financial services, or other regulated industries.

• Familiarity with conversational platforms, AI-enabled experiences, or personalization systems.

• Experience driving large-scale platform adoption and legacy decommissioning.

• Comfort operating at the intersection of **product, architecture, and engineering**.**Pay Range**The typical pay range for this role is:$175,100.00 - $334,750.00This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls.

The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
