Position Overview:
We are seeking a Director of Data Platform & Governance to lead the strategic build‑out and operational maturity of our enterprise data capabilities. This role will own the data platform (data warehouse, data lake, integration pipelines), establish enterprise data governance, and enable AI‑powered analytics in a secure, scalable, and business‑aligned manner. This is a high‑visibility leadership opportunity within an organization making significant capital investments to modernize and scale its data function.
Duties & Responsibilities
Define and execute the enterprise data strategy and roadmap in partnership with IT leadership.
Partner closely with IT Operations, Security, Cloud Governance, and business stakeholders.
Own architecture and evolution of the enterprise data warehouse and/or data lake.
Modernize a primarily on‑prem environment leveraging Azure and S3‑based storage.
Establish AI‑ready data design and approved integration patterns.
Build and formalize enterprise data governance (ownership, stewardship, classification, lifecycle management).
Lead and develop a growing team of Data Engineers, Data Architects, and DBAs.
Required Experience & Skills
10+ years in data engineering, data architecture, or analytics platforms
5+ years leading data teams and enterprise data platforms
Experience with enterprise data warehouse and/or lakehouse architectures
Strong Azure experience (AWS/S3 familiarity a plus)
Deep expertise in SQL and SQL Server
Experience implementing data governance frameworks
Hands‑on experience enabling AI/advanced analytics using governed data
Familiarity with BI tools such as Power BI and Tableau
Strong executive communication and cross‑functional leadership skills
