Tonja's Place is a Texas-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization committed to eliminating transportation barriers and empowering single parents and families to achieve economic stability. Through structured mobility support, we provide access to vehicles, short-term auto insurance assistance, insurance literacy education, and workforce readiness programs. Role Description This is a governance‑level volunteer board position based in the Dallas‑Fort Worth Metroplex. The Board member at Large - Community Outreach supports strategic growth through partnership development, ecosystem positioning, and community representation.

This role does not involve operational staff duties. Board members provide oversight, strategic insight, and network leverage rather than day‑to‑day program management.

Responsibilities

Expanding relationships with workforce, education, and community organizations

Identifying workshop placement and fee‑for‑service opportunities

Strengthening Tonja's Place visibility within DFW

Participating in quarterly board meetings

Supporting sustainable growth initiatives aligned with fiduciary governance standards

Tonja's Place maintains a Give or Get board commitment through financial contribution, in‑kind support, or resource development.

Tonja's Place is intentionally building a high‑functioning, accountable board committed to sustainable growth and long‑term mission impact.

Qualifications

Strong communication, public speaking, and interpersonal skills

Experience with community outreach, networking, and building partnerships

Background in nonprofit operations, organizational strategy, or program development

Knowledge of fundraising initiatives, donor engagement, and resource development

Commitment to the mission of improving economic stability and reducing transportation barriers

Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and community stakeholders

Experience in volunteer coordination or board participation is a plus

Familiarity with the Dallas‑Fort Worth Metroplex area and its resources is strongly preferred
