
Penn-Plax is a third-generation, family-owned company and a long-standing leader in the global pet industry. With a strong foundation and a forward-looking growth strategy, we are seeking a senior-level Key Account Sales Manager to manage and grow relationships with major mass retailers and pet specialty partners.
This role is well suited for an experienced sales professional who understands the operational, analytical, and strategic demands of large retail customers and is looking to grow within a stable yet evolving organization.
Position Overview The Key Account Sales Manager will be responsible for full ownership of assigned customer accounts. While supported by a dedicated sales operations team for backend execution, this role carries responsibility for strategy, performance, and results.
Accounts will be assigned by channel on a global basis, rather than by geographic territory, and may include major mass retailers and/or pet specialty customers.
Key Responsibilities
Own and manage key retail customer relationships end-to-end
Develop and execute
strategic account plans
to drive growth and profitability
Lead
line reviews, new item launches, assortment planning, and modular resets
Analyze sales, inventory, and forecasting data to support in‑stock performance and customer requirements
Manage
forecasting and P&L responsibility
for assigned accounts
Navigate and maintain customer portals, scorecards, and compliance systems
Proactively address operational challenges including in‑stocks, forecasting gaps, and reset execution
Collaborate cross‑functionally with internal teams including operations, marketing, and product development
Represent Penn‑Plax in customer meetings and at industry trade shows
Qualifications
Minimum 4 years of experience selling to large mass retailers
Experience with Walmart is a
strong plus
Experience in the pet industry is preferred;
aquatics knowledge is a strong plus
Demonstrated understanding of retail execution, forecasting, and modular planning
Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and drive action
Highly organized with strong communication and relationship‑building skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced retail environment
Interest in long‑term growth and advancement within an organization
Location & Travel
Preferred in‑office role
Open to remote candidates located near major retail customers
Travel required for customer meetings and trade shows several times per year (not a heavy travel role)
