Job Summary A
Business Development Representative
is responsible for generating new business opportunities through targeted outreach, relationship building, and consistent follow‑up with prospective clients. This role identifies potential client needs, communicates the value of the organization’s products or services, and schedules initial appointments with Advisors.
Summary Of Essential Job Functions / Responsibilities
Proactively make a high volume of outbound phone calls to prospective clients, introducing Apex Benefits’ services and building initial rapport
Research and qualify leads to ensure alignment with target criteria and identify key decision‑makers within prospective organizations
Schedule and confirm introductory meetings for Advisors with qualified prospects, ensuring smooth calendar coordination
Maintain accurate and detailed records of outreach activity, leads, and appointments within the CRM system, updating notes regularly
Conduct timely follow‑up with warm leads and nurture relationships and maintain engagement until meeting is secured
Collaborate closely with the sales team to ensure smooth handoff of qualified leads and provide relevant context for successful meetings
Track and report daily, weekly, and monthly activity metrics, including call volume, conversion rates, and appointments set
Maintain a strong working knowledge of products, services, and industry trends to confidently answer prospect questions and position the company as a trusted partner
Identify opportunities for process improvement and share insights with management to enhance lead generation strategies
Consistently meet or exceed performance targets, including appointment‑setting goals and lead qualification standards
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor’s degree preferred; high school diploma or GED required
Previous experience in business development, telemarketing, or phone‑based sales is preferred
Ability to obtain and maintain required state insurance license within six months of employment
Comfortable making a high volume of outbound calls daily
Strong time management and organizational skills with ability to prioritize effectively
Excellent verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to handle objections professionally while maintaining a positive attitude
Highly developed reasoning and problem‑solving skills
Positive, team‑oriented mindset with willingness to collaborate
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and basic web navigation
