
LHH is working with a local, non‑profit housing organization who is seeking a detail‑oriented
HUD Compliance Specialist
to support compliance and operational excellence within their Section 8/Housing Choice Voucher Program. In this role, you will ensure program accuracy, regulatory compliance, and high‑quality service delivery by conducting internal audits, reviewing eligibility determinations, and validating Housing Quality Standards (HQS) inspections.
What You’ll Do
Conduct internal audits of new applicant contracts to verify eligibility, income calculations, and proper application of program rules.
Review and audit annual re‑certifications to ensure rent calculations, deductions, and allowances meet HUD requirements.
Perform field audits of HQS inspections to ensure compliance with HUD and SEMAP standards.
Prepare clear, comprehensive audit reports and recommend corrective actions where needed.
Interpret and apply HUD regulations, policies, and program guidelines.
Support continuous program improvement and complete additional duties as assigned.
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in public administration, urban planning, sociology, or related field.
5+ years of relevant education and/or experience
administering affordable housing programs (Section 8 or Public Housing strongly preferred).
Experience with HUD guidelines
Experience with PHA Web or similar housing software is a major plus.
Exceptional attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment.
Additional Requirements
Valid Connecticut driver’s license, clean driving record, and reliable insured vehicle.
Successful completion of a criminal background check prior to hire.
