
Transportation Specialist I (Asset Management Specialist)

This position helps administer the rural transit program in South Dakota. Transit provides public transportation for transportation disadvantaged persons in South Dakota. This position will work with transit directors, the FTA, local governments and transit boards. Duties will include meeting with transit agencies to inspect vehicles and facilities, developing transit vehicle specifications, developing transit asset management plans, managing asset data, developing state of good repair goals, acquiring vehicles and other capital assets for transit agencies, and managing the Drug & Alcohol Inspection program.
This position requires in‑state travel, occasional out‑of‑state travel and physical inspection of transit vehicles and facilities.

Knowledge and abilities may have been acquired through a combination of education and work experience that enable the incumbent to possess the required attributes for successful job performance. A strong knowledge of vehicles and grant management is desired.
