TITLE: COMMUNICATIONS AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS COORDINATOR
STATUS: NON-EXEMPT
REPORT TO: SVP - COMMUNITY IMPACT & PUBLIC RELATIONS OFFICER
DEPARTMENT: COMMUNICATIONS AND COMMUNITY RELATIONS
JOB CODE: 11926 PAY RANGE: $30.76 - $35.00 HOURLY
GENERAL DESCRIPTION:
The Communications & Community Relations Coordinator is a dependable and purposeful teammate who advances Golden 1 Credit Union’s Mission through planning, organizing, and executing community outreach, charitable giving, and communications/public relations efforts.
The Communications & Community Relations Coordinator represents Golden 1 at community events, meetings, and member engagement initiatives. The role is responsible for event volunteer and guest coordination, vendors, and community partners outreach in addition to general administrative support.
TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:
Help develop, plan, and execute corporate and community events, meetings, and engagement initiatives, collaborating with internal and external partners to align with organizational goals
Assist Community Impact team with events, presentations, and exhibits/booths
Manage promotional items and event supplies inventory, ordering, and distribution
Ensure timely payment to Golden 1 grant and sponsorship recipients and maintain a reporting system for nonprofit sponsorships and charitable donations as well as accurate reporting of Golden 1 giving efforts to ensure alignment with Golden 1’s Mission, Vision, and Values
Assist with selection of and guest experience for community and members guests at various events and in the Golden 1 Community Suite
Compile and distribute daily media tracking reports and end‑of‑month media wrap up
Coordinate event volunteer, guest, vendor, and community partner outreach and logistics
Cultivate relationships in the community and financial services industry to maintain goodwill and develop additional partnership opportunities
Assist in annual budget planning and ongoing reconciliation for the department including, tracking monthly variance reports, managing payment of all invoices and check requests, etc.
Monitor all California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) requests for the Communications and Community Relations department, including tracking, researching, and resolving requests within the given timeline
Assist Communications and Community Relations team requests within content operations platform, ensuring appropriate and lifecycle of content from planning to delivery
Maintain a thorough understanding of state and federal laws and regulations related to Credit Union compliance including bank secrecy and anti‑money laundering laws
Perform other assignments as required
PHYSICAL SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND EXERTION UTILIZED IN THE PERFORMANCE OF THESE TASK:
Effective oral and written communication skills required to accomplish tasks.
Possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an online computer terminal and other standard office equipment, including a financial calculator, personal computer, facsimile machine and telephone.

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, communications, marketing, or related field
EXPERIENCE:
1 or more years of experience in event coordination, administrative support, project management, or brand ambassador experience. Budget coordination and project management experience a plus.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS:
Strong attention to detail and consistency
Computer literate with proficiency in MS Office software and ability to learn new software programs
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to communicate, both written and verbal, with people at all levels of organization
Independent worker with ability to be flexible and work in a team environment
Proactive with excellent problem solving and judgment skills, in a fast‑paced setting, with a strong work ethic
Professionalism, tact, diplomacy, discretion, and open to feedback
Strong people skills, friendly, adaptable
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
Must reside within the territory and market region they support
Prolonged sitting throughout the workday with occasional mobility required
Corrected vision within the normal range
Hearing within normal range. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed
Occasional movements throughout the department daily to interact with staff, accomplish tasks, etc.
Work hours will include some evenings and weekends as needed to attend community events
Minimal local travel by car or public conveyance to attend onsite or off‑site meetings and promotional events
Lifting materials without assistance weighing up to 50 pounds to organize and keep inventory of educational and event materials
