Senior Producer, Originals & Podcast
Nexstar Media Group, Inc., Chicago, Illinois, United States, 60290
We are looking for a hands‑on creator to lead the production of our new original content slate, including podcasts, vodcasts, and digital‑first video series. You won't just be managing files, you will be scripting, shooting, editing, and packaging stories that drive retention and revenue.
Key Responsibilities
End-to-End Production: Oversee the entire workflow for podcasts and original video series—from booking guests and scripting to recording and final edit. Comfort on camera is a bonus.
The Podcast Model: Ensure all video and long‑form content is produced simultaneously for audio. You understand that a podcast is no longer just audio, it is a multi‑platform asset.
Show Running: Manage production calendars, coordinate talent/guests, and ensure all deliverables hit deadlines for launch.
Growth Optimization: Collaborate with the Audience team to ensure all content is optimized for SEO, discoverability, and social cutting (Shorts/Reels) before it is published.
Technical Execution: Serve as the primary editor for high‑priority projects and manage junior editors or freelancers when needed.
Swiss‑Army‑Knife: Ready in a pinch to assist the newsroom when needed with daily tasks.
What You Bring
Hybrid Skills: 5+ years of experience in both audio and video production. You can cut a compelling audio story and color‑correct a video file.
Newsroom Fluency: You understand editorial standards and how to move at the speed of news, even when working on long‑form content.
Platform Savvy: You know the difference between a YouTube thumbnail and a Spotify show tile, and why it matters.
Project Management: Proven ability to manage multiple series simultaneously without missing a publish date.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience launching a new podcast or video franchise from scratch.
Familiarity with remote recording tools and editing workflows
Experience producing content for CTV environments.
Platform expertise: YouTube, Spotify, and general Social Media management.
Salary Range: $80,000 - $90,000
Benefits: Our comprehensive benefits package for full-time employees includes, but not limited to, medical (with multiple plan options), dental, and vision insurance, paid time off, a 401(k) with company matching contributions, Paid Parental leave, life insurance and more. Part time employees are eligible for 401(k) and any local/state leave plans. Union positions are subject to the benefits outlined in their Collective Bargaining Agreement.
