
Marketing & Social Media Coordinator (Promotional Only)

The Marketing and Social Media Coordinator performs work of minimal difficulty in the marketing of the Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo, and its programs and special events, including the creation and coordination of social media and digital advertising content. This position reports to the Junior Museum's Marketing and Events Lead.
The Junior Museum and Zoo is a local family destination that serves children, birth to age 8, through its science exhibits and zoo, and children to age 11 through its school programs and summer camps. Approximately 117,000 visitors enjoy the Museum and Zoo each year and 23,000 take part in its science lessons and field trips at the Museum, in local schools, and in local open spaces. The Junior Museum’s mission is to engage a child’s curiosity in science and nature.
Ideal Qualifications
Bachelor’s or AA degree with emphasis on marketing or communications
Two years of marketing, communications and/or social media experience
Demonstrated excellent writing and oral communication skills
Some graphic design ability
This is an SEIU Hourly (limited-benefits) position that is budgeted to not exceed 1,000 hours per fiscal year. The number of hours per week and schedule will be determined based on assignment. Essential and other important responsibilities and duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Assists Marketing and Events Lead in the development and distribution of digital and print collateral to publicize museum programs, public hours, exhibits, special events and brand awareness
Works with Marketing & Event Lead to develop an annual marketing plan and calendar
Works with staff to gather ideas and content (images, videos, etc) for social media
Executes social media and digital advertising calendar
Creates fliers for on-site promotion of programs and special events
Helps maintain contact lists for constituents-families, schools, partner organizations, and other organizations through which the museum advertises programs, exhibits, and events
Creates detailed analytical reports measuring success rates of social media, digital advertising, and website placements using google analytics and other similar tools
Performs related duties and responsibilities as required

Demonstrated leadership, organizational and follow-through skills
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as required
Demonstrate written and verbal public communications skills
Demonstrate flexibility in a rapidly changing environment
Demonstrated excellent inter-personal skills
Ability to assimilate and understand information, in a manner consistent with the essential job functions
Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
Work Conditions Some lifting may be required. Position may sit or stand for prolonged periods of time, and deal with a wide range of people.

Valid Driver's License
Ability to successfully pass a background investigation
Salary/Benefits $29.39-$33.39 per hour; hourly health stipend, paid holidays and sick time.
