ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR

The Activities Director is responsible for coordinating all aspects of meetings and events for this community. We are looking for a passionate, dynamic individual with previous event planning experience and ability to work in a fast paced environment. The qualified individual is well organized, detail oriented, has a positive attitude, and is a strong communicator.

Compensation: $52,000 Annual Salary

Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Vacation and Sick, 401K

Work Schedule:

Summer (June–September): Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, with occasional Saturdays as business needs require

October–May: Monday to Friday schedule

Additional Requirements: Occasional evening events during the week

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and select providers of services according to customer requirements.
  • Negotiate contracts with service providers, suppliers, and vendors
  • Monitor event activities to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and laws, the satisfaction of participants, and resolution of any problems that arise.
  • Inspect event facilities to ensure that they conform to customer requirements.
  • Confer with staff at the event site to coordinate details.
  • Coordinate services for events, such as accommodation and transportation for participants, facilities, catering, signage, displays, special needs requirements, printing, and event security.
  • Consult with customers to determine objectives and requirements for events such as meetings, conferences, and conventions.
  • Meet with sponsors and organizing committees to plan scope and format of events, to establish and monitor budgets, or to review administrative procedures and event progress.
  • Review event bills for accuracy, and approve payment.
  • Arrange the availability of audio-visual equipment, transportation, displays, and other event needs.
  • Plan and develop programs, agendas, budgets, and services according to customer requirements.
  • Maintain records of events, including financial details.
  • Conduct post-event evaluations to determine how future events could be improved.
  • Takes appropriate disciplinary action in response to insubordination, misconduct, and lackluster performance.
  • Thoroughly documents employee/resident incidents as they arise.

Job Qualifications

Experience: At least three years of experience as an event planner.

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality management or the equivalent in training and experience.

Valid driver’s license along with a good driving record.
