Position Summary

The Technical Writer develops, writes, and edits material for technical reports, procedural manuals, briefs, proposals, instruction books, catalogs, and related technical and administrative publications concerned with work methods and procedures, installation, operation, and maintenance of machinery and other equipment within industrial power plants.

Position Responsibilities Observes production, developmental, and experimental activities to determine operating procedure and detail. Interviews production and engineering personnel and reads journals, reports, and other material to become familiar with product technologies and production methods. Reviews manufacturer's and trade catalogs, drawings and other data relative to operation, maintenance, and service of equipment. Studies blueprints, sketches, drawings, parts lists, specifications, mock ups, and product samples to integrate and delineate technology, operating procedure, and production sequence and detail. Organizes material and completes writing assignment according to set standards regarding order, clarity, conciseness, style, and terminology. Reviews published materials and recommends revisions or changes in scope, format, content, and methods of reproduction and binding. May review the work of other technical writers, editing, standardizing, or making changes to material prepared by those other writers or plant personnel. May maintain records and files of work and revisions. May assist in establishing programs at new power plant facilities. May select photographs, drawings, sketches, diagrams, and charts to illustrate material. May assist in laying out material for publication. May arrange for typing, duplication, and distribution of material. May require light travel. Required Qualifications

Gas Turbine Power plant operations and technical writing experience required. Proficient in Microsoft Office and Adobe software usage. US work authorization is a precondition of employment. The company will not consider candidates who require sponsorship for a work-authorized visa. Candidate must also pass a State and Federal criminal history/security background check and pre-employment drug screen. Desired Qualifications

LM6000 or LM2500 operational experience preferred. Essential Functions

Successful candidate must be able to, with or without a reasonable accommodation to perform the following functions:

Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, communicate, reach and manipulate objects; the position requires mobility. Ability to move materials weighing 50 pounds on a regular basis. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Usual office working conditions: noise level in the work area is typical of most site, office environments & warehouse.
