We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Writer to support Intelligence Community (IC) customers in Bethesda, MD. This role requires the ability to translate highly technical content into clear, accurate, and audience-appropriate documentation for a wide range of stakeholders, including government customers, legal/general counsel, and congressional support staff.
The ideal candidate brings a strong technical writing background combined with experience in Systems Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related technical discipline, enabling effective interpretation and communication of complex requirements, policies, architectures, and system documentation within classified environments.
Key Responsibilities Create, review, and maintain high-quality technical documentation across multiple programs. Translate complex technical, engineering, and policy-based information into clear, concise, and user-friendly content. Ensure all documentation meets quality, accuracy, clarity, and consistency standards. Review and revise documents for grammar, technical accuracy, formatting, and adherence to writing best practices. Maintain consistency in terminology, formatting, and style across all documentation. Engage with stakeholders across programs to gather requirements and validate documentation needs. Work directly with subject matter experts (SMEs) to collect and synthesize technical information. Coordinate with customers and internal teams to ensure documentation aligns with project and mission requirements. Regularly review and update existing documentation to reflect system, policy, or process changes. Implement and manage version control for documentation artifacts. Archive outdated materials and maintain an organized documentation repository/library. Ensure all documentation adheres to organizational and customer standards. Stay current with industry best practices, tools, and methodologies for technical writing. Deliverables May Include
Deliverables span the full lifecycle of system and program documentation, including user-facing, technical, training, and programmatic materials such as:
User and administrator manuals, quick reference guides, and troubleshooting documentation Technical requirements documents, system design documentation, and technical specifications Training materials, release notes, and instructional content Program status reports, change management documentation, and executive-facing technical briefs Required Qualifications
Active TS/SCI with Polygraph (required). 3-5 years of experience working within an Intelligence Community agency. Strong technical writing and editing skills with demonstrated attention to detail. Background in Systems Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related technical field. Proven ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, readable content for diverse audiences. Experience using documentation tools and version control systems. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple documentation efforts simultaneously. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Education / Relevant Experience
Associate Degree + 10 years of relevant experience Bachelor's Degree + 8 years of relevant experience Master's Degree + 6 years of relevant experience PhD + 4 years of relevant experience
