Location

Our campus is located at 1601 Maple Street, Carrollton, GA 30118.

Faculty and staff members are expected to be physically present on campus as needed to support the in-person educational experience and on-campus vitality at the University of West Georgia. Depending upon teaching assignments and student demand, this could include the Carrollton or Newnan campuses.

Job Summary

A Small Business Development Center (SBDC) Business Consultant is a public service faculty position reporting to the Area Director. The person is responsible for providing counseling and delivering programs to individuals, businesses, communities, and organizations in their assigned geographic territory. This charge requires a broad base of business knowledge, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously. These duties require the integration of business theory and practice, thus necessitating professional development activities. Multi-county travel is required.

: Provide Individual Business Support and Consultation: Offer high-quality, one-on-one educational support to entrepreneurs and business leaders, guiding them on business plans, market feasibility, financial analysis, and operational strategies. Ensure consulting practices yield measurable and impactful results aligned with strategic objectives.

ob Responsibilities/Duties 2

: Develop and Deliver Tailored Business Training Programs: Design, coordinate, and implement business training initiatives, including seminars and oonferences, that address the needs of the local business community. Oversee all aspects, from curricula development to marketing and execution, ensuring annual program goals are met.

Job Responsibilities/Duties 3

: Advocate for Economic Development and Collaboration: Act as a visible leader in the local business community, collaborating with private and public organizations to promote economic growth. Engage in public relations activities, such as presentations and committee participation, to advance business development efforts.

Job Responsibilities/Duties 4

: Support Organizational Improvement Efforts: Documentation of client work per SBA standards, supporting strategic initiatives and planning by serving on internal committees, supporting sponsorship development and creating individual work plans to support organizational goals.

Required Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Business or related field. Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in a small business environment. Preferred Qualifications

Preferred Education--

Master's degree is preferred in Business or related field. Candidates with a Master's degree are eligible for faculty rank of Public Service Assistant (UG Candidates with a Bachelor's degree are eligible for appointment to Public Service Professional (UGA). This is a provisional faculty classification and is offered for no more than 6 years without completion of advanced degree or review. Knowledge of University and SBDC programs and operating philosophy and/or relevant management background preferred. Teaching Experience (developed and delivered/taught courses).

Proposed Salary

$75,000-80,000 annually

Excellent program development and delivery skills, including the ability to design and implement tailored training programs for diverse audiences.

Ability to effectively manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining high-quality outcomes.

Ability to build strong relationships with entrepreneurs, business leaders, and stakeholders to promote local economic growth and development.
