Summary:

The Account Executive interacts with clients on a day-to-day basis while developing and maintaining relationships with both client and carrier representatives. You will prepare applications, specifications and marketing strategy for new business as well as the renewals of assigned clients with some degree of supervision and approval from their supervisor. This role may require you to take on the role of lead consultant and primary point of contact for their assigned clients. This team services a generalist book of business with a significant Real Estate concentration, providing strong exposure and long-term growth in this sector.

This is a full-time position. Working in the office is required and is essential for fostering collaboration and career connections. We offer the flexibility of a hybrid schedule from either our Plainview, NY or Midtown Manhattan offices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Negotiates terms, conditions, coverage limits and pricing with carriers and wholesalers.

Works with the Claims Department on relevant claims for assigned clients.

Prepare client proposals, according to NFP standardization, from carrier quotes that reflect an accurate presentation of the coverage terms, pricing, exposure basis, renewal comparisons and marketing results. Highlight coverage gaps or coverage differences to make sure the insured is aware of any potential limitation or lack of coverage in the event of a loss.

Responsible for accurate information such as updated exposures, driver information, reporting forms, signed endorsements and miscellaneous information to avoid any E&O claims.

Maintains a diary (follow-up system) to ensure policies, endorsements and other information is received to comply with requests.

May supervise or direct the daily job activities of the Coordinators and Account Managers.

Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, and clients through regular contact and client visits. Keep clients apprised of appropriate industry trends and events, including all state and federal regulatory issues.

Knowledge, Skills, and/or Abilities:

Excellent written communication skills – writes clearly; edits work for spelling and grammar; varies writing style to meet needs; presents numeric data effectively; able to read and interpret written information.

Education and/or Experience:

Typically, more than 5 years of Commercial Lines experience. This must include a recent tenure with a retail insurance brokerage or independent agency

Experience managing a book of middle market accounts (estimated revenue of up to $1MM) is required

You’ll work closely with experienced Sales Representatives and Managers to build your knowledge, skill and comfort with clinical and product knowledge as well as selling styles and techniques. You’ll receive training and be expected to study and prepare independently to perform at the highest levels in the operating room, working amongst surgeons and healthcare professionals. The expectations are challenging, yet rewarding.

What you need

1+ years of B2B sales experience preferred.

Bachelor’s degree required.

Comfortable with adapting to new technology and business advancements.

Must be comfortable in emergency and operating room environments.

Knowledge of principles and methods for showing, promoting, and selling products or services

This would include marketing strategy and tactics, product demonstration, sales techniques and sales control systems

Capacity to deal with competing priorities and potential to be adaptable as days change quickly.

Demonstrated ability in building and maintaining relationships in the sales capacity.

Prepared to spend up to 90% of time in the field with customers and sales professionals (including some weekends, and some overnight travel).

Highly organized and demonstrate ability to organize a busy schedule.

Will need a personal car to transport product inventory and travel to support customers.

Learns from setbacks and develops tactics and strategies to minimize recurrence.
