Job Summary
The Associate Technical Designer is responsible for assisting the Technical Design team in the development of styles, providing support within assigned categories, and assisting with department and business needs. The position will partner within TD and with cross‑functional partners to assist in on‑time development and delivery of new product.

Associate Responsibilities
Assist Technical Design team with style development (seasonal & non-seasonal). Measure and evaluate samples in comparison to product specifications and construction. May be responsible for tasks related to department fit models, including maintaining fit agendas, booking fit models, and measuring models regularly to ensure adherence to target measurements. Assist Technical Designers as needed in fit sessions, including taking fit notes and photos. Responsible for maintaining library of approved digital patterns within assigned categories, and plotting patterns as needed. Assist with evaluation of competitive samples and assembly of fit analysis. Evaluate pre‑production samples and audit tech packs; partner with Technical Designers to ensure tech packs are complete and correct prior to production. Responsible for seasonal prototype and pre‑production sample organization, as well as general TD area organization.
Required Education
Bachelor’s degree in Apparel & Textile Design, Fashion Design, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field; or equivalent years of related experience in lieu of degree.
Required Skills & Experience
1 year of experience in a related field. Basic knowledge of pattern making, draping & understanding of grading principles. Basic sewing and garment construction knowledge. Proficient in computer skills: Excel, Word, Illustrator, and PLM systems. Experience with CLO3D or similar, preferred. Strong attention to detail. Ability to organize and prioritize workload. Communication: written and oral communication skills required. Ability to work in a team environment. Ability to work in a changing environment.
Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Typical office environment; office setting. Extended periods of time sitting, standing, typing on a computer are required. Light lifting may be required up to 25 LBS. Willing to work some weekends if necessary. This position has a Hybrid location: Associate will work on‑site regularly as needed for work activities. Carhartt is a tobacco‑free workplace.
