Overview The Corporate Tax Senior Manager will be a key member of the firm’s Corporate Tax practice, responsible for leading corporate income tax planning, compliance, and ASC 740 income tax accounting engagements. This role serves as the primary tax contact for multiple clients and plays a critical role in engagement management, client relationships, and business development. Success in this role is a direct pathway to
Partner or Managing Director .
You will collaborate closely with cross-functional tax specialists, including the Washington National Tax Office (WNTO), leveraging advanced tools, technology, and firm resources to deliver high‑quality client service.
Key Responsibilities Client Engagement & Tax Advisory
Lead and manage multiple client engagements across diverse industries
Provide corporate income tax planning, consulting, and compliance services
Serve as the primary tax relationship manager for assigned clients
Gain a deep understanding of client operations, business objectives, and tax needs
Maintain strong working relationships with client leadership and finance teams
ASC 740 & Technical Review
Review complex corporate tax returns for accuracy, compliance, and tax‑saving opportunities
Lead primary and secondary reviews of ASC 740 income tax provision engagements
Research and consult on complex federal, state, and international tax matters
Apply strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, corporate income tax laws, and regulations
Leadership & Team Development
Supervise, mentor, and develop tax professionals across multiple engagement teams
Conduct performance evaluations for engagement‑level and annual reviews
Provide coaching, training, and technical guidance to staff and managers
Business Development & Firm Growth
Support firm growth and profitability by identifying and pursuing new business opportunities
Leverage external networks to achieve sales and revenue goals
Participate in marketing initiatives, proposal development, and client presentations
Attend professional, industry, and community events to enhance firm visibility
Engagement & Financial Management
Manage engagement economics including realization, utilization, leverage, billing, and expenses
Ensure engagements are delivered on time and within budget
Adhere to firm policies, professional standards, and confidentiality requirements
Qualifications & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting (required)
Master’s degree in Taxation, LLM in Taxation, or JD (preferred)
CPA or JD with active law license (required)
5–7+ years of progressive tax compliance and/or tax consulting experience
Public accounting experience strongly preferred
Strong experience in: Corporate income tax
ASC 740 (tax provision preparation or audit support)
State and local taxation
International tax and transfer pricing concepts
Proficiency with tax technology and accounting systems; OneSource Tax Provision experience preferred
Skills & Competencies
Exceptional analytical and technical tax skills
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and corporate tax regulations
Excellent client service, communication, and presentation abilities
Proven leadership, mentoring, and team management skills
High attention to detail and strong problem‑solving capabilities
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
