Job Description
Oltmans Construction is seeking an experienced Senior Concrete Estimator to join our in-house concrete group. This role is critical to supporting estimating and preconstruction efforts across structural concrete projects, including cast-in-place work and large-scale structural scopes. The ideal candidate brings deep concrete expertise, strong analytical skills, and the ability to support fast-paced, quick-turn estimating environments.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for structural concrete projects, including cast-in-place foundations, slabs, walls, and structural systems. [James Bogle | OneNote]
Support preconstruction teams by analyzing drawings, specifications, and project documents to define scope and quantities.
Work closely with internal teams-including project managers, preconstruction staff, and the VP of Production-to develop competitive and complete cost proposals. [James Bogle | OneNote]
Participate in budget development, conceptual estimating, and early-phase planning for upcoming opportunities.
Coordinate with subcontractors and vendors to obtain pricing, evaluate proposals, and maintain strong working relationships.
Assist in workload forecasting and planning for the estimating group.
Support continuous improvement of estimating templates, processes, and tools.
Work fully in-office as part of Oltmans' self-perform concrete division.

Skills and Requirements
Extensive Structural Concrete Experience - deep understanding of cast-in-place concrete systems, methods, labor, materials, and sequencing. (Tilt-up knowledge not required.) [James Bogle | OneNote]
Experience preparing estimates for structural concrete scopes of varying size and complexity.
Ability to interpret plans, specs, details, and technical documents accurately.
Strong analytical skills with the ability to perform takeoffs and cost breakdowns efficiently.
Experience in general contracting or self-perform concrete environments preferred.
Proficiency with estimating tools or digital takeoff platforms.
Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate across multiple teams.
High attention to detail, ability to work under deadlines, and comfort with fast-turn estimate cycles.
